I may or may not have been discussing 1×9 650b hardtails with a certain bike shop proprietor last evening… 😎

It’s got special teeth profiles shifting! You don’t get that kind of feature for free, y’know! SPECIAL TEETH PROFILES!

Love the photos — and the captions
Mountain biking is a ton of fun. It is how I got back into cycling as an adult, and though I rarely find the time to “drive to ride” these days, it is hard to find an activity so fully engaging, physically and mentally. And it only gets more fun. As I mentioned on Strava there are tamer trails around. While Schaeffer isn’t an especially technical course (like Gambril), it isn’t as gentle as Wakefield or the classic trails in Lake Fairfax / Difficult Run. Or definitely the main/outer loop at Rosaryville. I am sure others can provide great getting-started local trail suggestions.
It did seem a bit advanced for an intro course… it was definitely a challenge! I psyched myself out on some of the obstacles and wound up not trying them – I seem to do better if I don’t have time to think too much beforehand
Riding the trails at the end of the class was really fun!

Participanteminva and I took the REI Intro to Mountain Biking Class today up at Schaeffer Farm. Hardest 8 miles and 6 hours ever!
Here’s some pics of our crashtacular adventures!

Yep. If you glue all your fingers together you can’t eat bad stuff.

It’s under review by the committee.

Ee hee!
Did I tell y’all I superglued my fingers together once? I am truly self-decaled.

As the Self-Decaled Arbiter of Stickers, I decree that this sticker is permissible upon all forms of bicycle.
(I was gonna fix that to “Self-Declared,” but it was too apropos to change it.)

I’m pretty sure if the world does end soon, and the rapture happens, Jesus will be riding a bike. Can you imagine traffic during the appocolypse? Jesus would recognize this are ride a sweet steel fixie. Ironically these parishoners will be left behind because their church isn’t connected to the highway to heaven with a protected bike lane.
My t-shirt agrees.

ParticipantKel’s Sticker Rule: Stickers may be applied liberally to mountain and hybrid bikes. Road bikes shall be kept in a pristine and stickerless state, as beausage should be allowed to develop naturally.
