I’m at the Smithsonian CaBi station, but don’t see anyone. Where are you?
DC World War One memorial.

ParticipantPlan is still to meet at Smithsonian CABI station (on the mall) at 12:15pm. In case you miss us, we’ll be riding over to the DC World War I memorial for lunch.
See you all soon!

Bummed, no puppies by the time I had to leave for work.
Puppy arrived shortly there after and was ridiculously cute. I didn’t get pics as I was too busy holding the puppy! Hopefully someone else will post one up soon.

There’s always Mount Vernon to… Pittsburgh. Almost entirely on bike trails (though much of it is unpaved).
Unpaved would be even better! It is only finding the time to do that ride which has prevented me from already doing it (and no, I’m not going to ride straight through as some other silly forum people have suggested).

Feeling the itch for a long ride and I’ve been wanting to get up to G-burg and check out some history and such. I’m thinking Sunday. The route I mapped out is about 120 miles and I’m thinking Sunday but I’m open on all fronts.
This would obviously be an all day trek done at a touring pace. Weather looks very promising this weekend.
Anyone up for a little adventure?
Oh man, I’d LOVE to do that (although I have no idea if I could really ride 120 miles). Good thing I’m already booked this weekend or I’d be very, very tempted. Maybe we can try some similarly silly ride in the not to distant future.

So no one can guess where this is? First person to answer correctly wins… a free ELITE vote. Very valuable.
I’m pretty sure that is the building at the very top of Washington Channel. I have no idea what it is called but I’ve paddled past there. Usually in the trees right next to it are a flock of night herons. How do you expect a bunch of cyclists to know where that is??

ParticipantFriday is looking lovely — mid 70s, a light breeze (from the NW of course), party cloudy and boss on travel. Sounds like a perfect picnic day to me. 12:15pm at the Smithsonian CABI station on the Mall again?
I’ll be there. Anyone care to join me?

Disappointed. Gonna do a little retail therapy. A new Velo Transit backpack should do the trick. Now to get permission.
Those are some SWEET, and $$$, backpacks!

ok. Against what probably would be the better judgement of a reasonable person if we had one of those around:cool:, I will join you.
Excellent!

I am always the advocate of riding those trails on the cross bike. …. I will say, though, that I have enjoyed putting larger (38-42mm) tires on my cross bike for those trails.
I’ll run fatties on Viaje. Picking up some new Clement X-Plor 40s from Bikenetic this week!

You know if you wanted to make it a nice round century day, it looks like it wouldnt be to hard to ride to the start and from the finish.
Are YOU going to do that? I’d be game if you are …. You can call it training for your Hilly Billy.
