Is it uncouth to not use the bike lane/cycletrack if there is one?
You mean the Door Zone of Death?? When bike lanes are painted right next to parked cars, creating a three foot door zone next to the cars, I rarely use the bike lane.
Isn’t that just past the Fish Market on Maine Ave looking past the small marina toward the weird old National Parks Service boathouse-thing at Haines Point?
So no one can guess where this is? First person to answer correctly wins… a free ELITE vote. Very valuable.
I’m pretty sure that is the building at the very top of Washington Channel. I have no idea what it is called but I’ve paddled past there. Usually in the trees right next to it are a flock of night herons. How do you expect a bunch of cyclists to know where that is??

I can do one better – I’ve been in that building, it’s next to the trailer/building at the NPS offices where I registered and picked up my pedicab license. Last year, I went in that building looking for the office.
According to Google Maps, it may house an office of Eastern National, a private organization that works with the National Park Service. I hadn’t heard of it before.

Here is my take on this. If you will be going along quicker than 15, t is totally cool to be out in the traffic lanes. I do it often when going northbound on 16th.
