I am looking for suggestions on how to best get form the WO&D to the start finish of the Capital CX? Usually I ride up Difficult Run and such, but to save time, was considering going up Hunter Mills Rd.

Or just ride with Pete from Falls Church. He is leading the Bikenetic Shop ride this week to the race. I’m sure he’ll post details shortly ….

A downpour started just after I turned off the Custis onto the WOD and lasted until I got home. Pretty soaked but warm enough.

That downpour and cold wind started just as I rolled through Georgetown. Going across Key Bridge wasn’t fun at all. It was 7pm on the dot. I took that as a sign and bailed to metro. Hadn’t done any CyberMonday shopping but had to make Dave hide my credit card once I got home to avoid buying insanely expensive rain gear on the Rapha and/or Assos’ websites.

I don’t believe you! More like getting an early start on the sandbagging.

Keep it simple and don’t change a thing. I see little reason to tinker with what worked so well the past two years!

    Oh and to:
    – Crown the King/Queen of the world (fear not, I have no int’l travel plans).
    – Hopefully not crash and miss most of the January.

Passed Steve O on the W&OD tonight. Almost didn’t recognize him because he was, gasp, walking!

Ortliebs and Vaudes are almost identical. I have the Vaude’s because they were on sale on the Clymb awhile back. I echo what Kingman says about the size. The “back” ones (i.e. Backrollers for Ortieb or whatever for Vaude) are huge and way bigger than I need most of the time. I use my smaller “front” panniers for most applications (including when we were on the GAP and on my recent trip to Idaho). I have more space I tend to just fill it up with unnecessary stuff!

Looks like it’s Shield Flash now from the Nike Store, but at $395-$500 it ain’t cheap. I can see why $300 seems like a bargain after that.

Of course they could always rock a free BikeArlington vest and get pretty much the same effect

Another option popped up today while I was indulging in a little online retail therapy — the Sugoi Zap Jacket. $150 and it pretty much does the same thing. Spend $10 more and you can get a convertible one with zip off sleeves.

The canal this morning was great. The fog made it a little surreal and at spots you couldn’t even see the river.

Have to consult with the boss about tomorrow. They are ready to be public. Have to see. I may put them in my dog trailer and trailer them around Clarendon on Saturday before DCCX.

Will the puppies be there tomorrow?? They look like a rather rowdy bunch!
