ParticipantIt could definitely use a re-pave. We at least got it to “didn’t get launched to the moon” condition. When the weather warms up will put some patch down on the spots where the bump removal caused shallow potholes. We’ll also try to get the 4 or 5 exposed roots cut out and patched. They take 1-2 hours a piece and I’m focused on grinding as many bumps as possible while the weather is cold.

Big thanks to the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail.
Evidently they were out recently smoothing the heaves on the VA-side connector between the MVT and the Roosevelt Bridge. That usual teeth-chattering, butt-bouncing, lose-something-out-of-your-pannier descent from the bridge, although not quite what one might call “buttery smooth,” is 1000 times better.
Thanks FoMVT!!!!

ParticipantSo many tiles available if you ride down to Fort Washington. You should also post your Freedom Plaza Wandrering.

Maybe not silly, but kinda stupid. Pointless, at least.
After work, and then after meeting someone for beers, I decided to ride way up to McLean (opposite direction of home) to capture a couple of “tiles”
My feet were really, really cold when I finally got home. Then I, also stupidly, got in a hot shower.https://www.strava.com/activities/8491035754

ParticipantA little before and after of the ramp from the MVT to TR Bridge. Now bump free.

Participant29 bumps going up the ramp to TR bridge were removed. There’s 4 spots with exposed roots that might give you a bit of a bump and a couple of bumps that need a bit of asphalt patch which we’ll do when the weather is warmer.

ParticipantDouble points just because I always get a giggle when I seem a smol person on a bike with full size tires, much like I giggle when I see a picture of me riding the Kona Dew with 650 tires.

ParticipantMy own stupid silly bike trick. The trailer is loaded with 400 pounds of equipment to remove bumps from the Mount Vernon Trail. There’s another 100 pounds in the bike bags. The trailer was already overweight so there’s six shovels strapped to the back of the bike.

ParticipantYou guys should probably take a couple of days off from riding. Don’t want to overdo it.
Judd
ParticipantBooo. I’m getting the same error message.

ParticipantThanks for organizing this every year Rumi. Just put you $100 closer to goal, although I’m more of an asshole in blue jeans who cares when I bike these days.

ParticipantI mostly upload pictures from my computer. It mostly works but the user interface is clunky and slow. Can you describe what’s happening when you try to upload?

This is the 2nd day of me not being able to upload any pictures. I still use an actual camera and upload the files from my computer/laptop.
Since many of the games involve posting pictures, this sort of takes the fun out of it for me.
If anyone has any suggestions, I’d love to hear them. (and by suggestions, I don’t mean using my phone to do this).

ParticipantI’ve always wondered if something like this would work. That’s a sucky climb when hauling gear even with the assist.

Couldn’t get a photo because I was too busy doing the stupid trick. We ride very well loaded Tern GSDs at work. A partner had his battery die. In order to get back to the office in a timely manner, and to help his fading legs, I pushed him from the White House up 15th St and the Ontario Rd hill to the WABA office with a broom stick. Made a SURPRISING difference to use my legs and e-assist when pushing him.

ParticipantBonus award consideration for anyone that does a Danger Panda on the Pete Beers Memorial Bridge. Extra bonus points if you are wearing the Danger Panda t-shirt while you do it.

In 2017 there was a Danger Panda Pointless Prize with an excellent description and lots of photos: http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?11593-Danger-Panda-Pointless-Prize
(note – this particular danger panda was taken in tribute to Pete Beers, shortly after his tragic death; hence the pink attire)

ParticipantPretty cool. Someday I’m going to learn that whole changing directions without moving the handlebars thing.
