Were the police there? The “safety campaign” was supposed to continue today…

    Yes, just one.

There was a collision in the intersection this morning. A car ran into a motorcycle – biker seemed ok. I watched for a minute. I could imagine the driver trying to explain he didn’t see the bike. Be careful out there, we are less visible than motorcycles.

I rolled through the intersection extra slow this morning. I was impressed with the police presence, only expected one officer but there were several.

Speaking of Lee – I find myself going up it now in the afternoons because the Custis sidewalk there is so bad and the far right lane on three lane Lee Hwy is always clear.

Same here, but that doesn’t stop drivers from honking, yelling, and passing way too close. Even though there are two empty lanes to the left. And having no bailout on the right doesn’t help because of the wall. There should be a bike lane there.

You guys have a lot more faith than I do in what those drivers are going to do in the cars you are weaving through.

More faith than what joggers and dog walkers are going to do on the custis!

My office building is right on Thomas Circle. Just wondering … what route do you take to the Key Bridge from the end of the M St bike lane to the bridge? I’ve avoided that route since getting stuck in massive traffic on M Street.

    I always stay on M.

Driving a car is so ingrained in people’s mind that they can not imagine riding a bike to work.
My evening commute was awesome. Hit all the lights from Thomas circle to key bridge and it only took about 5 minutes to leave the city. In a car, this would have taken 20 minutes.

Some work was done on the L street cycle track between 23 on 20th. A couple of the bollards at the beginning of the block were moved from the center to the right, exactly where I used to ride. Nearly had an accident. What’s up with that?

I was wrong about the bollards, completely backwards. It looks like the cycle track is being narrowed so that cars and more importantly, trucks can not drive in it!!!

As long as they have E-Assist, why not have an electric ass warmer if the temperature gets below 60 degrees?

Easily done. I would rather have a face warmer though.
