Klizotte: thanks for the offer of you knee scooter. I am not sure if i will need it; i will let you know if i do. So far, i am happy with my ortho doctor. He has a lot of experience repairing broken femurs.

Fortunately, my phone was in the back pocket of my jersey. i was pretty much frozen in place but somehow managed to make the call. Voice dialing and using the phone’s mic/speaker made it possible. The ambulance arrived less than ten minutes after i called. The only person who stopped to check on me was a homeless guy who vowed to stay with me until the ambulance arrived. The cyclists who went by just kept going. In my experience, that was quite uncharacteristic. Most people at least ask if you need help.

This afternoon in front of the train station in Vienna. The plow moved a lot of snow off the trail, but a couple of inches of packed snow remains.

Help me out. I thought no motorized vehicles were allowed on the W&OD, including electric powered or assisted bikes. Is that correct?

Radar guns don’t know the difference between 13 mph / 18 mph either.

Many years ago, on a beautiful summer morning, I was riding to work on the Custis and the next thing i knew i woke up in an emergency room in Arlington with blood all over me. I never was able to remember what happened. My helmet was cracked in the front and I had a concussion and many abrasions. Fortunately, no broken bones.

I hope you figure out what happened, but there’s a chance it will remain a mystery forever.

Just was on the W&OD. There is black ice on the trail in many spots west of Dunn Loring.

I’ve never ridden on the Holmes Run Trail. What is the best way to connect to it via the W&OD?

In mid-afternoon today, a hole opened up in the East bound lane of the W&OD between the 6 and 6.5 mile markers. Some stuff was put over it to warn people but be very careful–it is a big hole. I reported it to the W&OD trail authority.
