Seems to have been the thing yesterday. My chain was very happy with a cleaning and new coat before heading out this morning.
Ahhh….that explains your ride title!

ParticipantTomorrow at Best Buns I’ll be enjoying a cup of coffee but no sweet roll! Thanks to the simple fact the calorie intake has to roughly equal calorie usage–my challenge is that I still have my pre cycling-hiatus appetite!

They should have a design contest for next year’s BTWD shirt. Not that I don’t appreciate the shirt, I do. Just think you are missing a fun opportunity to make something cool and interesting, sourced from the community.
The ‘car free’ table at Rosslyn was giving some very cool black T-shirts with a jumble of small white writing listing all the ways to manage without a car–when you stepped back the writing jumble merges into a white bike against the black background.

ParticipantKaren B and I got to Rosslyn around 7ish and the tents were ample to keep volunteers and cyclists dry. Tables well-staffed (Pete B at the WABA table) Didn’t see Tim Kelley, but someone said he was there.
A variety of bagels, bananas, coffee, granola and energy bars (though didn’t see Kind Bars). There were lots of friendly volunteers eager to pass out swag!
Notable booty this year: Azalea-pink BTWD 2014 T-Shirts, BLINKIES (red and white light), high quality Bike Arlington cotton baseball caps, Variety of Bike Arlington plastic bike water bottles, Black T-Shirt for those interested in Car Free/Light, Revolution Cycles tune-up station manned by Pinkie, Katie, Daniel, etc, sightings:

Rockford10 and I rolled out with our older son just before 7:00 and hit the officially-closed Falls Church stop, where I got a donut and a $20 gift card to Bikenetic (though no BTWD shirt)! Dropped our son off at school, and went out to East Falls Church where we got “Bike to Metro, Metro to Work” shirts (not the BTWD shirt!) and free Kryptonite U locks, even though we weren’t registered there! Then back by the Falls Church stop where we met our younger son with Granddad on their ride in. Merrifield got us coffee and bagel, then Rockford split off to go to Tysons, and I hit the Vienna stop (which I almost didn’t see back in the Whole Foods parking lot) for more coffee and a water bottle. It barely rained at all except right as we started out. So massive score on swag, pleasant ride, and hopefully we’ll get our BTWD shirts when Falls Church reschedules their event (which they promise to do).
Excellent! Congratulations on your bounty–Wow, a Kryptonite U-Lock! Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy (and wife) (and kids) (and Granddad)

ParticipantTEN things I like about this morning
1. I don’t have to worry about wearing sunglasses
2. No bugs to get in my eyes and mouth
3. I get to see my friends
4. I get to feel a little bit rule 9ish
5. I talked Karen B into coming (the free T-shirt helped)
6. No matter how bad is it this morning it’s going to make HH at Westover that much sweeter
7. I will get to hold this over the heads of anyone who doesn’t show
8. It’s not a ride (er…push) it’s an adventure! I’m a pusher, and I like to push.
9. I kinda like soggy bagels
10. I know a hot shower waits at the end.signed,

Was not stellar last night. Got a flat in front of the Lincoln Memorial at which point Glargon Lord of Sky Tears decided to rain more of his despair down upon me. The culprit – a fricking shark tooth – EXPLAIN THAT ONE SCIENCE!

C’mon, you guys should just be thankful that you CAN ride! How do you think I feel…I’ve been waiting all year for today, I can barely move my arm and shoulder and it hurts so much you’d feel it standing next to me, I’ve watched my name plummet on the NBC leaderboards, and my wife is about to kill me because I even hinted that I might try to ride (just a little from the Metro) to get my T-shirt.
So quit yer bellyaching, put on a raincoat, and go get your swag! …and don’t forget to say hi to me when you get there (Rosslyn)

Sarah, you don’t need to push, unless your bruised up like me!
