Hi @Serdar and @obscurerichard! Thanks for playing, and sorry I didn’t respond here. I was away for a few weeks so haven’t been checking.

Not sure if you noticed, but I changed the minimum number of participants from 5 to 3. If you post up group pics from the ride on this thread, I’ll retro-count this one since I was not attentive and trying to get a feel for what works best.

Thank you for getting the ball rolling on the group rides. I hope to start organizing some myself when I get a little less busy 🙂

For these group rides, I leave it up to the leader/organizer to decide whether they solely want Freezing Saddle riders and friends on their group ride, or open to everyone. It doesn’t matter for this pointless prize; I just care that the group ride is open to FS Riders and Friends.

That was a great ride, thanks for coming! (Although I’m not quite sure who you are solely by your handle, but you can let me know when we see each other, if you want :D)

I’ll definitely organize another Donut Ride for the ’25 Freezing Saddles!

There’ll be a third prize for the Guru that organizes/leads the biggest group ride #GroupRideGiganticus

We’ll go by how many ride participants we can distinctly count in the pictures that are posted for that ride. The Guru doesn’t even have to be the person that posts the pic, but they are of course welcome to. I just want them to be recognized for the effort they put in to round up the Freezing Saddlers and go in a direction 🙂

I wandered around the ‘hood to take a pic of flour, but I spelt it wrong. (BADUM, TSSS) 😀

3/17 – Snort

Pollen – collected by the busy bees along the College Park Trolley Trail – makes me sneeze, sniffle, and snort!

Also, bees snort at flowers that don’t have much nectar, instead going to the ones that do 🙂

3/15 – ERUPT

Call me crazy, but methinks they should’ve closed this part of the Paint Branch Trail that goes underneath Route 1 to the University of Maryland because of the molten metal (from the bridge welding work), dropping onto the path and erupting into a thousand sparks.

Aaron Bikes: incredible picture. May I ask from where you took it, and were you just using a phone camera or a real one? What model?

3/7/24 – Clone

I bummed hard when I heard that someone already did the banana thing because I took a picture earlier on the ride but didn’t post it yet.

Another idea that came to mind was to clone myself. Doing it in Photoshop was easy but not allowed, so I had to figure out some other way where it was just one pic with no post-shot combining.

I tried propping my camera on my handlebars (with the help of my bar extensions), then taking a panoramic shot on my iPhone and rotating the camera by the front tire (since I had to take the picture myself with no assistance). After 10 unsuccessful tries (and singeing my eyeballs with my hyperbright headlight), none of it worked probably because it was too dark and I was too close.

I remembered that there are different ways to output a Live photo, so I took the photo in that mode with the self-timer, then after I heard it click, I shifted to the right. When saving it to my iPhone, I selected Long Exposure, and this is what the pic ends up like.

Not sure if it’s more ghost than clone though 😀
