ParticipantI think you would be surprised how warm it is in your pocket. Might I suggest you put the garmin in a sock, mesh bag or old nylon and tie it to your handlebars for a day? My garmin is mounted on the bars and although it needs to cool down (from room temp) at the beginning of the ride (it spends the day with me inside), the temps at the end of 5.5 miles were 9, 10, 16, 19, 19, and 28f for my commutes this week.
If the temp had been 40-50f, we wouldn’t have had to consider Steve O’s codpiece.

ParticipantRolling down 18th Street in Crystal City heading to the waterpark. About an inch of snow on the road. Car right on my tail, not passing when I slow and wave. I finally give up and get in the other lane to make the left on Crystal Drive. Driver in the small SUV rolls down their window and says “I didn’t want to pass you because my tires are bad.” I was rendered somewhat speechless. Damned flatlanders.
For the record, if a car has bad tires and is out in the snow, the last place I want them is on my tail.

ParticipantMVT about a third clear (thanks wind) from the Crystal City Connector to the 14th St Bridge. Remainder had less than an inch of snow with no ice. I was on 35 mm Schwalbe Marathons (no studs) and had no trouble. Wind is ripping down the channel so bundle up.

The design allows for easy removal without taking off your pants. Just unattach the shoelaces from the velcro and pull the YEH Protector straight up and out.
Removes easily and the shoelaces can hold dollar bills (somebody else’s). Kind of like a bad BAFS stripper movie. Not sure I will be able to unimagine this.

ParticipantEmail from WABA this morning:
“Hi all,
Thank you so much for making a contribution to yesterday’s challenge match. I’m so happy to share that it was a success; so much so that we doubled down halfway through the day and pushed for $13,000! And we made it: 126 donors contributed $16,169.89!
Truly, we couldn’t do our work without you. Thank you for coming to listen and learn about WABA; for being gracious riders eager to encourage others to join you; for making an investment in building a better connected region.
Special thanks to Judd and Josephine for stepping up in a big way for WABA this year. Their generosity and hard work—not to mention willingness to let us share their words and photos far and wide!—is inspirational and deeply humbling.
Thank you for your commitment to WABA and helping to make yesterday a success. Here’s to a great 2018!
With gratitude,
Kristin”Kristin is correct. Judd and Josephine (Komorebi) rock. If you missed the action yesterday, get in touch with WABA today. Online at http://www.waba.org/blog/2017/12/judd-and-josephine/

ParticipantThis is a great opportunity to help spend Judd and Josephine’s money!
Please contribute to the cause. We all benefit from WABA every time we ride. For it to be effective, we have to support it.

Do you think anyone would mind if I built a fire by my desk?
Wouldn’t that attract the attention of your employer?

ParticipantI rode it this morning. I think there needs to be a decent curb cut about where the C in Columbia Pike is on the right side of the map. If you are trying to get to Crystal City, you have to get to 244 heading south.

ParticipantSaw Rod Smith heading east on H at 17th this afternoon about 1230. I yelled “Rod” but, alas, was on foot so I blended into the crowd.
