I just want to thank Sunyata for posting a photo of the skirt so that SteveO’s winter thong no longer “pops” up as the thread image

January 3, 2018 at 9:43 pm #1080106EasyRiderParticipantI wore my UA 4.0 tights this morning but if it had been any warmer I think I’d have been uncomfortable. The compression+insulation of the UA 4.0 shirt sometimes gives me the been-sitting-in-the-hot-tub-too-long feeling. I think a looser fitting version would be quite nice.

I wore a sweatshirt and my old snowboarding jacket today and was positively soaked in sweat after pushing against the headwind for a mere 15 minutes.

Just ordered the Big Agnes skirt and a pair of UA 4.0 tights since my current pair is…so old I can’t even tell you. Maybe 10 years? They were purchased before UA started classifying the different types of cold gear.
Gotta be honest – I always thought the skirt was a cute accessory, not a functional piece of clothing.
How in the world have I not made you try the skirt?! Last year at Apple Cross, quikaf77 even wore it on the podium (I need to find that picture). It is literally the best piece of cold weather gear I have ever bought.

He cuts down trees, he wears [cycling skirts], suspenders, and a bra…
January 5, 2018 at 4:33 pm #1080569ltiersteinParticipantI have the opposite (converse?) issue. Everything was warm this morning EXCEPT my toes.
For extra protection, I packed my Goretex rain shorts, but I didn’t need them. I find that rain pants or rain shorts work great in the cold and wind.January 5, 2018 at 6:37 pm #1080582n18ParticipantFor those who want to make their own, I think G-Street Fabrics sells more fabrics for outdoor activities than Joann Fabrics. I don’t think they carry Neoprene, but they carry similar stuff. They had a location at 7-Corners that is now closed. According to their web site, the only location left is at Rockville, MD. I am not sure if they have all of their collection online, but here is their Apparel/Polyester collection. Of interest:
1 – Polar Fleece and Minky, $10/Yard.
2 – Outerwear, $12-$17/Yard.
3 – Lycra Nylon, $25/Yard.You probably won’t save money by making one unit, perhaps if you make more than one item, like socks, and bar mitts. Amazon sells Neoprene fabrics, but you can’t feel them before buying them.

Tania – I got the Showers Pass Skyline pants recently and they are amazing! fleece lined and waterproof front and back but stretchy sides. I can move well in them and they are almost too warm for me when I have tights and compression shorts on underneath.

check out deals on junior-sized gear. She picked up a $300 (retail) pair of hardshell insulated riding pants, junior/boys size XL, for like $75. She’s 5’9″-ish and they fit her fine.
