ParticipantI did not…I was about 50 short, between two crashes (one being stupid on gravel, and one when a car turned in front of me) and COVID in October, it was not possible. Maybe this year I can get to 365. 366 will come back around in ’24, and I should be back in the DMV by them.

Not cash, bitcoin….I’m starting the rumor.

ParticipantClearly the back end works great, and I understand why the Strava club is there…and that the “official” leaderboard is the page you linked. I have just noticed that in the last few years there are strata athletes from all over (usually BRICs, without the R) that join hundreds of clubs, and then fill the club leaderboards with epic rides, that are either fake or an attempt to get a pro contract.

Your should know I’m a daily work commuter, and will garner huge points for any team that accepts me.
that covers 5 days a week, knock out 16kms (Rule 24 observant) per day on the other days….I’ll have you, if chuxtr will let me.

ParticipantThis is one prize I wish to not compete for…and based on odds, the 4 deflations- punctures (proper pronunciation: puncher) and cuts- I suffered in one week a few weeks back should solidly put me right of the running.

ParticipantHey, I’m Andy…my first year was 2017. Then I moved to Europe, and I’m still there…though I moved from Stuttgart, Germany to Brussels in the summer. I participate from a distance, but Strava brings us all together. FS is my excuse to keep riding when the weather turns sloppy and cold, and make sure I am ready to really crank out the miles when the weather turns nice (which apparently is a 2 week window in Belgium, otherwise it’s rainy/misty and windy).
Cheers!

I liked the point system last year and the team size was fine. I suggest changing as little as possible from last year given how much of the rest of our lives has changed. I especially want to avoid changes that would require changing the back end so we minimize the work for obscurerichard. Let him reserve his energy for his family and his bicycle.
Yes! All of that!

ParticipantI weigh 78kg (roughly 180lbs), and I ride 24 spoke wheels on gravel and road, 32 on my XC rig. And for those that know me, I am not gentle.
I recommend a 2-cross pattern. With the choice to build a wheel, your rim and hub options are wide open. Many quality hubs to choose from, if you prefer the Shimano Centerlock interface your options will be decreased from a 6-bolt interface. But, whichever disc interface you prefer, there are plenty of good options. Rims are also plentiful, aluminum is the most straightforward to integrate to the build, but carbon will significantly lighten the build, and offer a stronger wheel of built right. For the sporks and nipples, no question IMHO you should use DT Swiss brass nipples and DT Swiss Aero Comp (they’re bladed, the aero advantage is minimal but they are strong).
I’ll second that the specialized tools can be pricey. A dish tool is nice to have, but can be homemade (internet can tell you how). A stand is great and very useful, a bike frame can suffice. A proper nipple spanner is critical- spend the money on the DT Swiss tool. There is no better option. A tensiometer is for next level spoke tensioning, but can be pricey, the Park Tool version works well, you just have to do some conversions, the DT Swiss tool with dials is north of $1k, and not necessary.
Good luck, you’ve gotten a lot of good advice here. One last piece, I think Bill Mould is still at Spokes, Etc., on Quaker Lane in Alexandria. If he is, go see him, he is one of the top 5 wheel builders in the United States. Or better yet, take his class, it’s worth every penny.

It also came with space for 3 water bottle cages in the triangle, BUT I have no idea how on earth you’d actually fit 3 water bottles, since the 2 along the down tube are very close together…
Use a side load cage on the lower down tube mount.[emoji6]
I second all on the Di2. You’ll want it on all you’re bikes now…that’s not a bad thing!

ParticipantWell, here we are…and I am sorry for a late notification of the win. First off, my plan to drop off the prize for distribution at the HH was thwarted by a hastily emplaced Presidential travel ban that caused me to cut a work trip short with about 3 hours notice so I could get home before being stuck in the US away from my family. Second, as I scanned the thread here, I struggled to really determine who the winner was, since mileage is the key component…for instance, tagging a ride that has a 1/4 mile (400m) of gravel that is 50 miles (~80km) in length defeats the spirit, since the idea is go ride dirty surfaces on purpose!
That all said, Mike T had 21 days on qualifying surfaces, with consularrider at 19 days…giving the benefit of the doubt, based on how the system calculates, I have to give the win to Mike T, but consualrrider gets an honorable mention for clearly going out of the way to find gravel as well. I tries to watch as many of the rest of you as I could see (due to privacy settings, some rides are not visible to me), and it warms my heart to see people leaving the pavement for the kinds of riding I have come to love. Mike T, please send me a PM, and I will try to arrange mailing you the prize since I don’t expect to be in the US anytime soon…both due to current DOD travel restrictions and my upcoming move to Brussels this summer.
