It was even worse a couple years ago, then they fixed it, now it’s bad again. It’s the circle of life…

I hear Russian tanks don’t respect bike lanes.
They don’t respect international boundaries (), so I’m sure bike lanes are meaningless to them. Fortunately Kyiv is ~400 miles from the fighting.
Some of us are even jealous of consularrider for getting to go to Kyiv. I really do miss that place quite often.

ParticipantSomething about that picture reminded me instantly of the bread line part of the FDR Memorial.

Given that temps will hover around freezing overnight, and that I will be leaving for work at about 8:00 tomorrow morning, I may go ahead and mount my studs…yay!
That would certainly seem prudent. Because bike stuff!

Where is the DC BAC on this? BTW, I need contact info for them. I’m pretty sure someone posted it, and I dropped the ball and didn’t write the email. Can someone re-post? Thanks!
You probably had more specific contact info in mind, but there’s this that seems up to date.

I generally don’t mind people drafting me, depending. When I do, though, I find waving them by generally works. A little wave, stop pedaling, and it all sorts out without much difficulty.
Or if I know a hill is coming, then I just drop them like a ninja sword through microwaved butter.Agreed, except in my case it should read, “Or if I know a hill is coming, then I wait to be dropped like a ninja sword through microwaved butter.” :p

ParticipantIt was definitely a rain cape kind of morning. And the new chain and cassette I installed last night got initiated in a mean way. In hindsight, I probably should have waited until after today’s foul weather commuting to do that little bit of maintenance, but it had already waited a week or so since I got my new cassette, so I jumped at the spot of free time last night to work on the bike.
The rain let up for the last half of the ride, though the headwind did not. Fortunately managed to avoid two large splashes made by passing cars on the MVT/GWP. I only saw two other cyclists on my seven mile route from Del Ray to DC. Guess between it being Turkey Day Eve and the weather, I shouldn’t be too surprised by that.

You start on a bicycle, but only make it back with one wheel. And the tire is flat.
More like you start out on a bicycle, but only make it home with a flat tire and a broken chain. At home, you find a Russian, an Austrian, and a German sitting on your couch, demanding you cook them a nice meal and that you move out of your house.

He is unequivocally awesome. When I was a kid, I was pretty devastated when his show was canceled. If people want to boost STEM in the schools, make it as great as his show used to be.
But, but… he believes in evolution AND global warming. Won’t he corrupt the minds of our youth with all his science?

ParticipantSad stories all around. Of course, not bike story seems complete w/o mention of whether the cyclist was wearing a helmet, even though there is no legal requirement to do so.
Re: the Oregon incident, who was that? Was it someone from bikeforums? I used to be active there and remember a lot of the screen names. Wonder if I’m familiar with them, too.
