Oh, and Amelia. Please stay on the team, regardless of your injury outcome. Otherwise I’ll have no one to talk to.

Bad news Alan… the doctor told me I have to baby my arm more and no more attempts at riding for a a few weeks…

So not sure staying on the team is good for morale [emoji15]

    Hello all,

I’m Amelia. This is my first freezing saddles. I only really started riding my bike back in May when I finished grad school and discovered free time. I worked full time for the duration of my degree. I live in Arlington, work in Anacostia so most of my miles are from that ~16 mile RT commute.

My plan was to use freezing saddles to incentivize me to bike to work through the winter and more in general. Which I thought I was getting a strong start with… then on January 4th I wiped out trollheim when it was really foggy and supposedly fractured my elbow/radial head.

So as of 15 January, I actually have most movement back in my arm and I’m not in a splint… but my ability to squeeze/ apply pressure with my left hand is questionable right now.

I’ve gotten a few sleaze miles in and and think I might be back in the swing of it next week after I see the doctor again. Worst case scenario – someone from the waitlist gets my spot.

Also, the sign-up sheet mentioned making contributions to the cause of freezing saddles so I’m on the Happy Hour team.

I’m very open to ~team events~. I may be the lowest in miles, but I’ll make up for it with spirit

Hey Everyone! I’ve arrived *checks notes* an hour early. I’ve updated the reservation board to say freezing saddles instead of Amelia… but the seats in back still say Amelia!

I’m in a grey sweater – come say hi!

Yikes! I had to look up what the ulna is… “long bone found in the forearm that stretches from the elbow to the smallest finger”. Hope it’s OK!

Thanks! Reading this thread in the ER sent me down the rabbit hole and I saw that the timeline for bridge replacement is 2022!! I saw another note that there are probably dozens of crashes there after rain. I’m lucky, could’ve been much worse. But what can we do, if anything, activism wise to move that process up? Anyone have NPS connections?

Just went down on the curve coming northbound this afternoon… probably fractured my ulna, hit my head (in a helmet thankfully), and bruised legs. Still waiting on my x-ray.

Two teenagers had just gone down before me apparently going south. They checked on me. Then a scooter user almost went down going south.

I’m annoyed. I had two miles left on my Arlington loop…

I commute this way and am always worried I will get a flat here. Due to both this sign and all the loose gravel/glass.

Hello! I’m Amelia. It’s my first freezing saddles as I started commuting to work via bike earlier this year, then an accident/summer of working overnight took me away from my bike for a while.

I am doing freezing saddles in the hopes that peer pressure will help me keep going through the winter. I jumped right into BAFS by joining the Happy Hour committee so I will accept helpful suggestions for future Happy Hour locations that 1. Will accept a group of our size with everyone on different tabs, 2. Don’t charge for the space, 3. May have a speaker system we can use. And for added bonus 4. Have gluten free and veggie options.

I am not sure if my other post went through. But posting here to make sure I’m one of those 100… [emoji51]
