ParticipantHello! Looks like I may not make the deadline for registration, but here’s a first post just in case there’s still room. Stay chilly!

ParticipantMy name is Stu- it’s great to be involved in this! I am somewhat new to the cycling scene but am taking it very seriously. I live in Hyattsville, MD and work in DC. Being Scottish, I am unafraid of the cold
Looking forward to meeting people in FS!

ParticipantHi I’m Keasha! I joined because I’m training for Ironman Texas and I hate long rides on the trainer so I’m hoping to get outdoors as much as possible. I live in Prince William County if anyone wants to meet up!

Hey everyone! I did BAFS for the first team two years ago in 2018 and it was awesome. I ride my bike(s) a lot more now, and I’ve met a bunch of people.
If you’re new to the forums, you can get your required first post here, so you don’t need to open up a new thread. If you’re not new, still feel free to let people know a bit about you (if you’d like).
Hey everybody, looking forward to winter riding with all of you. The weather is very mild right now, so it’s pretty easy to start out. But there will be cold weather ahead, eventually! See you all soon I hope. Carl H

ParticipantHello! I’m Amelia. It’s my first freezing saddles as I started commuting to work via bike earlier this year, then an accident/summer of working overnight took me away from my bike for a while.
I am doing freezing saddles in the hopes that peer pressure will help me keep going through the winter. I jumped right into BAFS by joining the Happy Hour committee so I will accept helpful suggestions for future Happy Hour locations that 1. Will accept a group of our size with everyone on different tabs, 2. Don’t charge for the space, 3. May have a speaker system we can use. And for added bonus 4. Have gluten free and veggie options.

ParticipantThis is my first year to ride through the winter….hoping this will help motivate and meet other crazy bikers! I also started to commute to work most days so hoping to contribute some points.

Clare & Don’s in Falls Church meets all of those requirements.

I second @sunyata’s motion, having used C&D venue for group bike tribe events/rides myself on numerous occasions. And the larger BikeArlington community has a history of hosting events at Clare & Don’s, too.
Aside from being welcoming to bike tribes, C&D’s has ample bike parking in the outside patio (which is empty in the winter) as well as public parking lot right off of said patio, in a low-theft threat environment. There are also Capital Bike Share stations nearby, that connect to both the East & West Falls Church metro stations on the Orange/Silver lines, FYI

The one downside being that it is pretty far afield for players from the bad side of the river.

ParticipantHi all,
This will be my first FS. Relatively new to DC. I don’t cycle much other than for commuting and getting around town. Live in west end dc and commute to L’Enfant. I’m excited for the extra winter motivation. I ride a 1980s univega with a flat bar. looking forward to meeting people! hopefully there will be a DC happy hour. I’ve never biked over to Arlington, and I’m not really sure what the connections are like from DC.

It’s an easy ride from either L’Enfant or the West End, mostly on trail. Perhaps someone who works nearby would be willing to ride with you. Otherwise, the Google Maps cycling directions look pretty good: https://goo.gl/maps/48qSNjF8pQA9TbWx5
