2/16/2024 – The former home of the Cottage City and Colmar Manor Fire Department. Amusingly (at least to me) Google Maps lists this as being “temporarily closed” even though this location opened in 1924 and has been closed since 1940 when the “new” station was built (which subsequently closed in 2004 as part of the consolidation I’d mentioned in an earlier post).
Per Street View, it looks like it got the fresh coat of paint and signage just over a decade ago.
I caught this fire emergency vehicle zooming off to an emergency, sirens blaring, from the bridge over rt 7. Unfortunately it has a chain link fence in the way….
I got another pic of it from behind that mightabin better, except it’s so blurry it makes my eyes water 🤷🏻
2/17/2024 – DC Fire Department Training Center (near Blue Plains) – this remote corner of DC also houses the DC Police training academy, a Job Corps training center, the DC Police impound lot, US Botanic Garden production facility, and “more paved” trail to Oxon Farm from the north.
2/17/24 With one station per day limit, I left two unphotographed today. Here’s one I had to ride back to. Was busy being mad at a “taxi” in the bike lane that I missed it the first time. Pretty big to miss!
