i’m not sure there’s anyone in the world who doesn’t recognize this flag now, but just in case, it’s Ukraine.

Hello Kris – do the rule changes mean that “feather flags” for businesses or events are okay? You know, the ones that people put out in front of their business that say “CAR WASH” or COFFEE”… Does the Jan 4 update mean they’d be within your discretion? I’ve been avoiding them per Jan 3 rule.  I hate to ask you to legislate this to death – but we ARE in DC. lol

Rule update Jan 3: Flag must be on a flag pole (vertical pole or angled mounted to a building)….already posted “other” flags count…but let’s make this more “traditional” flag size/style going forward (e.g. no more little yard banners, etc.)

Rule update Jan 4: My discretion to count any flag not on a traditional pole (rule update above).  Generally, I’ll count “real” flags (think full size, representing a generally known entity/cause)

Kbikeva – I’m not considering “feather flags” as “real” flags 🙂 (or 🙁 depending on how you feel about this 🙂

The Jan 4th update was meant to allow for traditional/real flags (generally rectangular and at least 3’x5’…but can be other shapes) that might be mounted in an unconventional way.  Rule was not meant to approve feather/banner/tiny things/etc.  Sorry for any confusion.

Judging by all the “real” flags most people find daily, this shouldn’t be an issue.

FYI to all….I’ll keep up the “tracker” tab of the Google Sheet (every day or two typically), but I can’t keep up with the detail sheet given all the participation (thank you all….happy to see the interest!).

The detail sheet was my way to make sure a person only posted a certain flag once, but it’s too time consuming to maintain daily.

    So….

    1. keep up the honor system (you’re doing great)
    2. feel free to question/call attention to anything that looks amiss to you
    3. I’ll double-check the eventual winner / finalists to validate in mid-March

As a reminder, I’m looking for “real” flags (typically on a pole, at least 3’x5′ rectangle, supporting a entity/cause, etc.).  Not banners/sails/feather/etc. things (or tiny yard/garden/driveway “things”).

Strava hashtag #flag via Freezingsaddles website is a quick reference to check, but you must post in the forum and be tracked in my sheet to be official.

    Kris
