It’s not public art if you have to pay to see it, and no bike (that I can see) in the pic, so regretfully this pic does not qualify.

2/21 – Does it still count as public art if it serves as an invitation to pay for access to private art? Why did I not get my bike in frame (it’s to the right)? At 524 Rhode Island Ave NE (near metrobar) is the Van Gogh Immersive Experience. They’ve painted a large mural on the outside of the strip mall building (slated to be torn down as part of the redevelopment’s next phase).

March 21, 2022 at 6:07 pm #1121346Boomer CyclesParticipantThat’s a great mural but since there is no bike in it, it regretfully doesn’t count

As a bonus: here’s a brief video of part of the painting in progress https://youtu.be/N9kdiChXLQc

I think I posted this by accident – it’s probably 1 more than my mileage on 2/20, no bike in the pic, and maaaaybe Serdar already posted it. But ain’t it purty? [emoji3]March 21, 2022 at 6:51 pm #1121388Boomer CyclesParticipantNo bike in pic = regretfully doesn’t count

2/20/22 – 1 more chainsaw art pic from Saturday
Idk if you’re rounding up or down, so I may not be allowed a3rd for Saturday…. but you all hafta see this!
(You could always use some of Sunday’s miles, if that’s legal. I only got one pc of art Sunday in 27 miles – on the way out before the wind got too serious for me to even think about messing with my phone ….[emoji33][emoji100])Anyhow this huge cat lives in someone’s ride in Lake Barcroft. I hadda walk up a private driveway to get this one & the dog was baking in the house sooooo I left my [emoji605] at the base with the rest of the riders

Buoyant Force by Sue Wrbican is a 50-foot steel sculpture inspired by the paintings of American Surrealist Kay Sage (b. 1898, Albany, New York; d. 1963, Woodbury, Connecticut). Sage is recognized for her paintings of scaffolded structures and furled fabric in desolate landscapes. This is the sculpture Tephra ICA commissioned Wrbican to realize at full-size in Reston Town Square Park.March 21, 2022 at 6:57 pm #1121390Boomer CyclesParticipantNo bike in pic = regretfully doesn’t count

March 22, 2022 at 3:13 am #1121403bikingjennParticipantThanks Boomer for sponsoring this prize. Even though i was not a regular contributor, you got me to ten miles when i might not have otherwise. “No bike in pic” seems to have been a recurrent theme. Thinking it was because we got confused with the scavenger hunt rules.

Boomer, I looked at the sculpture and thought, “WWBD?” So I laid down on the ground and got the cat and that amazing sky.
You’re welcome.
