Are we supposed to post photos here in addition to Strava? Or is just in Strava is enough? This is my first FS and I’m still learning.

Either here or in Strava works, but all can enjoy your public art finds if you post here. But be sure to post at least a link here to your Strava ride so that your #publicartfinder can be verified. Ride on!

On the wall of the Herndon Art Space building. I don’t think this building will survive the impending redevelopment, so this art is temporary. The new development is supposed to have a fancy new home for Herndon Art Space, but the funky vibe of the old one will definitely be missed.

One photo is the obligatory ‘with bike’. The other is so you can see the detail of the mural. I’m not sure what the various objects along the windowsill are for, although Herndon has a very active “painted rock” community.

#PublicArtFinder – MORE CHAINSAW ART!!! This dragon bench sculpture by local artist A. Mallon competes with the Fairy house tree that I posted earlier as one of my favorites. This is located at 507 N. Lincoln St., Arlington, VA. It’s in the front yard, so easy to spot.

The Barbie Pond on Q St! An ever changing display of Barbie dolls for various occassions. Right now they have one celebrating inauguration. The pond is probably too small for lakefinder unless you count the size of the pond relative to the Barbie dolls!

Well done! I’ve been wondering if someone was going to submit the famous Barbie Pond as part of this pointless prize. I think that it should be eligible every time that they change up the Barbie Pond theme and decor … so keep a watch on this #streetart [emoji6]

“… an apt metaphor that encourages us to consider the diverse character of our city and our interconnected lives within it.”

Way to get deep into the meaning of #publicartfinder! [emoji3166]

I think I remember that one from the Bike Arlington/Phoenix Bikes treasure hunt. I seem to remember that the homeowners had it commissioned in such a way that their kids could “ride” the saddles. Get ’em in a saddle young is my advice! Any saddle!

Found deep inside the Del Ray hood of Alexandria VA, by Rives Wiley, a DC-based artist, who says …

“Although my paintings, actors, and sets are painted by hand, they are intimately informed by a digital aesthetic and often attempt to hide evidence of the painter’s touch. This juxtaposition, or tension between the hand imitating the digital through familiar settings, strikes a chord within the viewer that persuades them to reexamine how they fit into their own realities.”

The Gagged Washington mural. I did not realize but it is also by Udofia the artist who painted the one on the wall of Ben’s Chili Bowl. It’s a collaboration with another artist about Washingtonians fighting to have their voices heard. I think it’s kinda neat that it is also next to the RBG mural.6b1f489ab117d29294bb6d23c838c198.jpg

This is at 3001 2nd St. S. in Arlington, VA. The artist, Roger Doyle, has lived there for years and occasionally puts some of his art on display in his yard. Right now, he only has one on display in the front yard, but has more behind the fence. Sometimes he’ll put more out in the front, like during the Arlington County Fair when lots of folks walk by his house. He’s really a sweet guy – here’s his website: http://rogerdoyleart.com/
