ParticipantThis sculpture always reminds me of “The Coneheads”. Does anyone remember them on Saturday Night Live with Jane Curtain and Dan Ackroyd? And does anyone remember why on earth we found it so funny back then?

ParticipantAnd back by popular demand… MORE CHAINSAW ART! 3203 N. 4th Street, Arlington, VA
This lovely work of art is by famed local artist Andrew Mallon. I watched him work on this piece, which is the only reason I know where it is – the scaffolding could be seen from the other side fo the street. This one is located in the side yard of 3203 4th St. N, on on the corner of N. Irving St., but it’s in the backyard, so the best view is from N.Irving Street between 4th and 5th. I couldn’t get a great shot with my trike because of the angle (you can just see the blue of the waterfall through the leaves), but it is very easy to see if you are walking down the sidewalk. I think this is my favorite so far of his work that I’ve posted, although it’s pretty neck and neck with the dragon (which I realized I haven’t posted yet, so will get on that soon).
You can more of his art on his website: https://www.amsculptures.com/

I remember SNL’s “the cone heads” skit and found it hilarious back in the day, but I don’t remember why (like a lot of things forgotten already from the “fuzzy” 70s). I also found these “egg heads” when I visited the same 3 Egg sculpture during last year’s Cranksgiving food drive.

ParticipantLove on Six Lines, in the alley next to Safeway in AdMo. The artist Ravi Raman was inspired by Picasso and was working on a series of murals about the relationship of these two characters with each one using only six lines to draw!

Are we supposed to post photos here in addition to Strava? Or is just in Strava is enough? This is my first FS and I’m still learning.January 30, 2021 at 12:52 am #1110552Steve O

ParticipantMore yard art (not chainsaw art, but don’t worry, I’ll post more). These three pieces are at 501 N. Highland Street, in Arlington, VA (the corner of N. Highland and 5th St. N). I show two of them circled in red (to the left of the house), and the third one is to the right of the house. Two of them just seem to be an interesting conglomeration of twisted metal, but the circles are interesting.

ParticipantInspired by the recent spate of chainsaw sculpture art, I stumbled across this today in the wilds of MD (though it was previously posted in the daily photo scavenger hunt thread for “bird” day)
