Just so happens that there was an article about it today. It’s a ratzilla!

Discovered that the alley next to Philz coffee in Adams Morgan also has some other murals, a couple of which are on garage doors. Here is one of “End Taxation without Representation.” Their tags are about to expire…
Very timely, as this just went up around the inauguration. All hail Ratzilla!

ParticipantNot sure if you’d like a Cool Disco Dan mural in the wild but I think spotted one yesterday by the Howard Theater, next to the Washington mural. It looks more recent so not sure if it’s a tribute to him. Unfortunately it’s obscured right now by the temporary outdoor dining at the Winter Wonderland. I think I know where the Cool Disco Dan mural in the Post article is so will try to go there next.

ParticipantMeanwhile, out here in the bucolic suburbs, the most edgy we get is arguing about bike parking. It was commissioned to be artistic. As such, they installed it incorrectly (not on pavement, not close to the buildings) and since no one told the installer otherwise, he installed it (in his words), “with the two ducklings following the mama.” The artist entitled it, “Duck, duck, goose,” so I’m pretty sure the big one is supposed to be following the little ones … but I was less concerned about that than the fact it’s in such a setting that no one uses it. It doesn’t even look like bike parking.
But it IS public art, so here’s a photo.

Participant#PublicArtFinder – The waterwheel designs around the green Aspen Hill/Rock Creek Bridge in Rockville represents the area’s history of a concentration of mill sites on Veirs Mill.

That is a great piece of art, made out of trash fished out of the Anacostia River by clean up volunteers… and it’s supposedly modeled after a Great Blue Heron!

Oh my! A Cool Disco Dan “tag” in the wild!! Well done, and partial extra credit +3 points, as it’s certainly iconic, but not the actual mural in play this week … for which you are still eligible for full credit, if you find it!
