Post your #PublicArtFinder pic here! But please do so responsibly by using the “small” option on your Tapatalk menu!!

Rules (which are more like general guidelines [emoji849]):

    1. Ride your bike a least a mile to any art form (loosely defined) that is freely accessible to the public

    2. Take a picture of said art with a bicycle somewhere in the frame, and upload to this thread, Strava and/or the FS Facebook page (but please include the link here so that it can be found).

    3. Hashtag your ride #publicartfinder (not CaSe SeNsItIvE) on Strava if you want to appear on the FS2021 PP leaderboard https://freezingsaddles.org/pointless/hashtag/publicartfinder

    4. Public Art rides/pics must be posted within 72 hours, so as to allow all a fair chance to play, and avoid sandbagging at the end of FS2020 to game the PP competition.

Entries will be judged by some faceless cabal on totally subjective criteria that may include use of creative objects (like a bike), composition, light, artistic flair, witty captions, great stories, # of quality submissions, and/or # likes, kudos or dislikes. Extra points if you disclose the exact location of the art form so that others may enjoy it.

Now go find your Public Art form!

#PublicArtFinder – Rainbow Sunset by Vicki Scuri on the Merriweather Parking Garage in Columbia. I love that it represents the Maryland sunset!

Two wonderful pieces of familiar public art sighted again on my ride out and back on the W&OD.

Ich bin ein Berliner mural in Georgetown, near the start of the Capital Crescent trail. Contrary to popular belief, JFK did not say that he was a jelly donut.

Here are Volkswagens, Boomer! I found this mural in the parking lot of Stohlman dealership at 8433 Leesburg Pike, Tysons, VA 22182.

P.S. I will find and post the bicycle sign later.

Well done, Serdar !! +3 points granted, especially for dragging along a friend in sub-freezing wind-chill conditions… now, if you can only locate the TyCo bike logo mural ;-)……

In light of a new era and demilitarization of the Nation’s Capital, it seems only fitting to celebrate the epi-center of #muralsofDC and bring #publicartfinder back to our beloved city.

No one epitomizes DC street art better than “Cool Disco Dan” who perhaps single-handily put DC on the map as a hotspot of graffiti art right up there with London UK and São Paulo Brazil.

Go find and snap a pic of your bike with this Cool [emoji41] Disco Dan mural and snag yourself +5 points.

Disclaimer: +3 points for those of you whom I have taken to see this before!!

I’m posting “too many photos”of this today, but it’s just really nice. Very difficult to capture in just one photo, too.

#PublicArtFinder – Carved Wooden Bench on 714 North Irving Street, Arlington. I believe this one was also done by chainsaw artist Andrew Mallon.

The alley art behind the Philips Gallery. This was one of the stops from Handlebar DC’s alley tour a little while back.

Discovered that there are some more murals in the alley next to Philz Coffee in Adams Morgan, with a couple of them on the garage doors. Here is one that I assume says “End Taxation without Representation”.

#PublicArtFinder – and yet ANOTHER wood carving by Andrew Mallon – another bench. This one is on 3rd St. North, between N. Highland and N. Garfield Streets in the Lyon Park Neighborhood of Arlington. This one features some nice leaves, and a seagull.

It looks to me like a godzilla or godzilla rat which would be a giant reptile. Congress better watch out!

Miserable weather day and the lack of sun does not show this work at it’s best. It’s called “Emerge” and was a collaboration between an artist in residence and students at the nearby elementary school. It’s on the South Reston public art ride.
