So I just want to say my mom and sister are artists, I have HS classmates who are artists, some of my best friends are artists named Laura BUT this is just so wrong on so many levels that the bike improves the sculpture. I prefer abstract landscapes.

I’m glad you found this one. It is called “Birdbath” and is one of several pieces by artist Valerie Theberge in Reston. (The newest is the “Continuum” on Sunrise Valley as part of the wall for the Lincoln property. There’s also a bench in the round she did there.) I think this placement of this piece is unfortunate as you really have to know it’s there to find it.
I developed the Art Rides for Public Art Reston. This is on the South ride as well as the “whole enchilada” ride.

Before I got asked to take my bike outside (oops), I managed to snap this photo in the Arlington Post Office. The New Deal era paintings are billed as “murals” but they’re quite small, up high, and not very imposing. I had a mental picture that these would be full wall sized. Kinda disappointed. This is the “mural” that depicts apple picking.

Participant#PublicArtFinder – on 7th Street South in Arlington, VA, just before the dead end where there is an entrance to the W&OD trail. My bike isn’t in the photo, but there IS a bike in the artwork!

ParticipantCheckmate! The mural on the Capitol Pool Checkers Club in Shaw. Pretty cool that there’s a checkers club for the community.
