I love mine. 9 speed shifting…no problem. That’s not to say I wouldn’t enjoy some paddle shifters but what I love about them is shifting to any cog directly, not having to press shift multiple times to achieve a needed position. Seems to me that if you hit your knees on them your bike is too small for you.
I’ve alternately loved and hated my downtube shifters (now, alas, in a donation bin for Bikes for the World). They got me to htfu, because when I was climbing up a hill and taking a hand of the bars wasn’t an option (twitchy bike), instead of downshifting, I’d make a manly face and soldier on.

ParticipantSurly ECR is on my list of bikes to build in the next year. I LOVE my dynamo lighting system too.

I had DT shifters on my Raleigh Technium that I used to ride around SF. One day, the front shifter fell off, dragged along the ground, and the cable snapped, instantly dropping from a 14 spd to a 7 speed.

If you were following The Rules, you weren’t using those other 7 anyway.

ParticipantI’m sure it’s a joke … but if it weren’t I know what my son would want for Christmas.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy
I saw someone on one of those the other day on the Greenway and wondered what the hell it was. If you could get one of those without the silly Salsa logos I’d be all over it. As it is I’m leaning towards this:

I hate not being able to ride asphalt year round but thanks to fat bikes I can keep #Mission3K alive and well.

Participant“We make our bikes in batches of 12.
We call these batches SERIES.
Every SERIES is different from any other.
Each bike within a SERIES is named, see below!
There will be just 4 SERIES produced each year.
The bikes are all made in Chelmsford, England.”SERIES!
