It’s weird, when I was riding up 41st, I was in smaller ring up front and probably the next biggest ring in back (I need to take a terminology basics class so I can stop ^&%$ing up the names of bike parts). When I am on my Trek hybrid, I have 3 rings up front and go up on the middle ring and the largest ring in back with no issue. On the two road bikes I have taken up, the chain has popped off the rear ring and I have fallen over.
What am I doing wrong when going up 41st? Should I be in the smallest ring up front and in back?
So sorry to hear about this Subby; hope they fix your bike real quick.
It’s possible that you may have been in the big ring up front accidentally. It’s possible to accidentally only “trim” the shifter instead of pushing it enough so that the shifter moves the chain to the lower ring. I did just that last weekend while going up a hill and about half way thru huffing and puffing looked down to see why I was having such a hard time; I was still in the big ring even though I know I moved the shifter. It’s a one click vs two click type of thing.
