I’ve been a HUGE fan of Geekhouse bikes for years. They do some very, very cool stuff. I loved their brazed-on, raised-letter logos. Very sweet design touch. Their color palate is also to my liking.
I’ll just be over here adding the Woodhouse to my covet list…

ParticipantThe Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show is wrapping up – I spied one copper frame that looks soooo nice. Dont know anything about it, other than that I covet it.

I think this would be my next commuter bike, if I needed a new commuter bike, which I don’t!
I really like the brakes and I’m fine with Tiagra — seems to work pretty reliably well when dirty/commutery/not-often-cleaned (although I’ve been having some issues since last Friday’s rainstorm).

That was on my recent shortlist but I couldn’t get past the 130mm rear spacing (seems like manufacturers are split about 50/50 on 130/135). I want to be able to run 29er wheels (and possibly even 26″ though not sure how that will turn out). I ended up with a 2013 Kona Jake with some upgrades. The other bikes on my list were the Redline Metro Classic (a bit heavy, no stock to test ride) and something based on Soma’s Doublecross DC frame (frame warranty was only 2 or 3 years as compared to lifetime on the other brands). I think the straight round steel lines on both the Soma and Redline do look more pleasing than the tubing shapes on modern aluminium frames but I had to remember I bought the bike for riding. Besides, there will always be more covet.

ParticipantI’d diggin’ this bike for a new winter ride. I hope to see a DC commuter on it this winter as it already sold ; )

I’m heartbroken. They nuked the Globe Live III… and it would have been recalled and sacked anyways. The world hates me.
(Oh! And I make it a practice to never buy more than one $3000+ bikes without riding or seeing it first each year.)
Right, then – how about this one? With the Rohloff hub, and high-end lights, etc. this bike would be $5K+, but this is the commuter bike I covet

Yup. One of my first posts on this thread was about the Tout Terrain Amber, which is the 700c version of the Metro. I’d use an Alfine11 hub and drop bars, but the idea is similar. A buddy of mine has the 26″ wheeled version decked out nicely. Truly lovely and useful bikes.

ParticipantSince many on here like good looking steel with nice lugs… I’m sure many have seen the 2009 Schwinn Paramount that was made of all stainless Reynolds 953. Truly a phenom (and $7K for the frameset). Man I wish I’d won the raffle!
Click here for the article that outlines the bike’s details. Yummy.

SSCX seems to be all the rage. The Civilan Le Roi Le Veut is a less expensive cromoly / chain version:

ParticipantYeah I’ve seen the Civilian line-up but not a big fan of their BIG FRENCH WORD theme.
The Spot frame is “only” $1400 though. Surely supplying your own Gates Centertrack drive parts, fork (the Spot one is Al steerer-carbon legs, so plenty of other similar on the market) BB7s, crank, wheelset, and other standard parts you could build it for less than $3400? People often end up with their own saddle and handlebars / wrap anyway, and brake levers can be pretty cheap too.
