ParticipantIf your biking takes you into D.C. and you come across a pothole, WashCycle has a post on a couple of ways you can report a problem:

ParticipantI know exactly what you mean–that section of road is on my morning commute and I find that I have hit the breaks and find an opening in traffic. Thanks for warning people!

ParticipantThe Custis trail is just about all clear and the Capital Crescent is looking much better but still has stretches of ice patches. Hopefully the weather in the upper 40s the next couple days will finally get all the trails in the region clear!

ParticipantGlad to help out! Here is the response I received from Kevin Stalica, the Park Service Area Manager and Trails Manager:
“Thanks for the inquiry. There are many areas with remaining piles of snow that are creating issues on sidewalks and some intersections. We will look into this specific issue tomorrow (Wednesday)”

ParticipantGreat idea! I’ll send this request over to the Trail Maintenance department now, and in the future anyone can send requests to: trails@arlington.va.us.

ParticipantHey Sam–thanks for stopping by. What kind of rider are you? Are you commuting during this cold weather?

ParticipantThose pictures were taken pretty soon after I got it. Although, since it has been on the trainer the past couple weeks, it is still in pretty decent shape!
When will you be starting up the Sunday rides again?

ParticipantGreat ideas, Chris and Joe!
A third option might be to look into a “folding bike,” which is lightweight and may be better suited to navigation through tight stairwells and halls.
Dahon is one brand of folding bike I have seen in Arlington bike lanes. Here’s a youtube clip of one in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrCBter8nUo
See you out on the trail!
