Good bye yellow brick road. Continuing with the economic interpretation of OZ (ounce), this is where some of our gold was stored before 1935. After we went off the gold standard it was moved away from major cities to Fort Knox, etc.
“Where the U.S. government kept its actual treasure, before Fort Knox.
“The government moved its gold and silver reserves in 1935, per the Treasury policy to move large gold deposits out of cities exposed to enemy attack. The so-called “deep storage” loot is now stored at Treasury facilities in Fort Knox, Denver, and West Point. Contrary to some conspiracy theories, we know exactly how much gold is at each location.”
“The Rogers vault was replaced by a larger cash room in 1909 under the Treasury Department’s south plaza. The newer subterranean space had double-story shelving, similar to library stacks. According to the Washington Post, the only way to get in was “by way of a tiny hydraulic elevator, which is protected by an iron door, opening almost at the elbow of the chief of the division of issues, who keeps the key in his desk.””

I didn’t manage to post it here on time, but those who follow me on Strava will note my picture of the HQ of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
My understanding (based on something a roommate in college said) is that A The tin man is industrial workers. B The scarecrow is farmers. C. The cowardly lion is William Jennings Bryant. D. The wicked witch of the east is the banks, and of the west is I think water interests (killed when water is provided?) E. silver slippers on the yellow brick road is a bimetallic currency. The emerald city is the false dream of paper money. Dorothy is good citizens looking for the truth. I forget who the wizard is. Or who the munchkins are
Yup!

In Texas these are what we call. Ruby, red slippers. And the fact that it looks like a dumpster has fallen on the where, could it be…? Are we in another Oz?

Could it be Greg Abbott or Ted Cruise?!

The building is the Treasury Department Annex near the White House
This is really fascinating. Maybe some of you know the story and interpretation. According to this YouTube video the “slippers” (I mean, they were shoes, right?) were only Ruby-colored in the film to show off the technology of Technicolor©️. The book is suspected to be about the politics of the day and the fight for a bi-metal economy. Kansas and farmers are in play and all the characters represent different parts of society at the time.
Too much poor driving nonsense tonight and horrible infrastructure for me! Almost fell hard again, on CONCRETE, due to an invisible fence I ran into. Managed to catch the post with my right hand and balance.

1651 Pennsylvania Ave. This is where the wickedest witch of all lives. Ask Eduardo Sánchez!
Everyone knows the Blair Witch lives in Blair House!
Please look at the photo on my Strava where you can actually read the sign. My uploads are awful on Bafs. Not sure what this tapatalk is. Maybe had it at one time. Witch took it!

I’ve been eating from Common Good City Farm in my neighborhood since this summer – kale, tomatoes, and herbs still in the freezer.
Not sure why the process for uploading pics changed tonight. Between being solicited to take pictures and cops, almost didn’t make it.

To be clear, since I tend to be overly wordie . . .
They are all NOW on the very first post. They weren’t when I looked. I am not crazy. Well, mostly, not.

Ahh, thanks! It was just updated/edited today and today’s wasn’t on that very first page list when I looked or the latest listing in the middle that doesn’t start until tomorrow.
I’m glad I checked because the first post today was only a subset of the complete scavenger hunt. The phone game started immediately! 😂

3/3/23 Friday “There is no place like home…” Show us something that says “home” to you, that is NOT your actual homeWhat’s today? It used to be easy to find the schedule when it was all on the last page, but now it’s in the middle somewhere and I can never find it! Lol. It often doesn’t help to look at the title others post because as the pages go on it becomes a “Phone Game” and becomes something entirely different.

Participant2/23/23 Thankful Thursday. Sliver moon and campfires.
Well, I’m TRYING to be positive here, but I don’t think I fit super well into the perceived category of bikers who are super positive. When I started, my excitement about one of my favorite loops – Sligo and RCP, was high, especially when I saw the temp was 82 before I left!
In the end I’m going to focus on what was this neat sliver of a moon and a couple of campfires ❤️ Sorry the phone cam can’t capture such things very well. The moon was so much thinner than the pic made it look.

In THIS BUILDING I’m sure you’ll find a few of these.
Collins English Dictionary
In British English, noun, Scottish obsolete, a THIEF.
I’ll post the link on my Strava at Steve Szibler. I’m trying to avoid posting the word again, which is in the link.
I got yelled at by some cop again for passing through. I’m pretty sure there’s a bike path connection so we had “words”, but I obeyed because they’re always right. DC Central Detention Facility. DC “Correctional” Treatment Facility.
