ParticipantI was in a line of four riders going south on the MVT this afternoon. I thought we were going fast, when OneEighth blew past us all just before the airport crossing.

I’ll remind everyone that talk like a pirate day (Sept 19) is only a few short weeks away. Every year I come thisss close to getting divorced… maybe training our toddler to stomp around and fret about his wenches and dressing the baby up like a parrot was a step too far…
My 3-year-old a couple of months ago: “I’m a pirate!”
Me: Oh, do you say “Arghhh!”?
Her: “No, I’m a girl pirate. Girl pirates say ‘I’m pretty, I have a dress.'”August 15, 2012 at 3:54 pm in reply to: CLIF 2 Mile Challenge Grant Recipient for July is WABA! #948685ShawnoftheDread

If all riders pull this rope together (we can relitigate the super bowl or world series over beer), the challenge is doable.
Despite the lack of an apology, I have been logging my rides.

Nah, just get yourself a baby stroller, disconnect both bike wheels and tie them to the frame and place them in the stroller. If anyone gives you crap just say he has his mother’s eyes. No rules about strollers on trains.
Or get a baby, put him/her in your pannier, and insist that your bike is actually a stroller. Make up a clever/stupid name for the stroller to prove your point (all high-end strollers have such names).

My bad, the title was “Any riders/commuters lift weights regularly?” I guess I should have made it “riders who dont really want to lift weights regularly.” because what I wanted to talk about was toning. Cool.
Or, you could recognize that not everyone is going to agree with you and may want to express their own opinions. So instead of whining repeatedly what your thread is “supposed to be about,” you could either politely disagree or ignore said remarks.

As an Irish-American, I am well qualified to play a Russian submarine cyclist.
No, no, you have to be Scottish. Because if it’s not Scottish, it’s crap.

Instead, I would like to have a thread that inspires those who bike to also build muscle so they can look and feel better. Not sure there is anything wrong with that. I think it is defeatist to say “I bike so much so I can’t lift and should therefore just have to be satisfied with how I look now, I guess I will just tone…”
That’s great, but a look at all the other threads on the site will tell you that the OP doesn’t get to dictate the direction of the post or the interjections that will occur, either snide or serious. So telling us “what this thread is for” is just crap.

Dirt is still the kingI’ve never been clear on this point: Does Dirt need boats, or does Dirt eat boats? 25 years of listening to that song, and I still hear it different each time.

Thought I had a Dirt sighting at the end of the WO&D trail today less than a mile from the end of the trail in Purcellville. Then I saw him later and I am pretty sure it was Dirt’s twin complete with pink jersey.
Oh lord, they’re cloning him! There will be simultaneous Dirt sightings all over the state, maybe even the entire mid-Atlantic. The trails from North Carolina to New Jersey will be filled with the sounds of singing cyclists on silent bikes. There will be more pink than a Christo installation.
