I went there a few times because I pass them on my way home to Anacostia. It would have been nice for them to move East of the River where there are ZERO bike shops or hardware stores and very few sit down cafes. I’ll miss them for sure.

I live in Anacostia and I started coming over the 11th street bridge and going thru Navy Yard before they shut down the northbound side of the Douglas Bridge because it’s so narrow and no one ever wants to wait to pass so people would squeeze pass me making it pretty scary or Iwould pull over and wait for them to pass to make it less scary. I have only tried the southbound Douglas bridge once or twice but that sharp turn to get back to Anacostia Park has made me stop doing that. I also sometimes take I st to NJ Ave and take the bike path along Virginia Ave to 11th Street and avoid the Navy Yard. It’s a bit out of the way but I stop at Whole Foods and get food for dinner to make it work for me.

    Hi!
I haven’t personally used it but I used to manage contractors for WABA at Audi Field next to Two Wheel Valet. You don’t need a lock. They have several employees who work there and park the bike indoors so it’s safe. And someone is always there watching the bikes. They did have lockers for backpacks but I believe they were $15/game to rent. I hope that helps.

Here is a link to the study. It talks about speed on page 4 https://www.novaparks.com/sites/default/files/Toole%20Design%20-%20Whitepaper%20E-Bikes.pdf.

I tried this route home yesterday and that switchback was kinda crazy. Even though I knew it was coming up I was still shocked at how challenging it was to navigate it. It was nice to know there is an alternative though.

I ride into work and back home on that route every day. I’ll keep an eye out for it and let you know if I see it.

    Hi HenryBraxton,
Congrats on mastering the basics of bicycling! That’s very exciting. May I suggest taking a Basic Skills cycling class in Arlington. This class can help with all of your questions and afterwards there is a class on city cycling to get you comfortable riding in the city if you want to start doing that. You can check out the class here.
