ParticipantOut of curiosity, what is your weekly mileage? Commuting and otherwise?
Am curious – open question to others also.

I got about 80% of the way to work this morning before I realized I forgot my laptop. Since pretty much my entire job occurs on that laptop, being at work without it is not terribly productive.
Good thing I bike to work and it’s gorgeous out, otherwise I might have been upset.
Admit it, you did it on purpose to enjoy the weather (nothing wrong with that, by the way)!

Participant@baiskeli, LOL. Mostly older gentlemen in Crown Vics or other larger US made sedans.
@KLizotte, I believe they would assume I am speaking Spanish. On a slightly less polemic note, another fabulous commute into work. M Street FTW, along with the fantasticly pleasant weather.
May this atypical DC summer continue to be atypical!

ParticipantAbsolutely. And maybe you could help me understand… apparently (or so I have been told) there are other component manufacturers.

Participant@rcannon100 and Greenbelt, all good points. Also, I suspect that there is a twinge of jealousy/resentment that we are doing things “right” in terms of our own health and impact on traffic/environment/financials.
Also, for those of a certain generation they are unable to see the bicycle as anything beyond something that small children would ride in their driveway. They simply cannot grasp that an adult would willingly ride a bicycle for transportation (they can almost conceive of it as a fitness/sport tool, but I suspect that there is a large subset who view cycling as a foreign invasion of some sort).
This leads to hostility in and of itself, without even needing to add on the bits about “cyclists as scofflaws” and all the rest.
N.B. I have been told, several times while living in the US, to stop cycling and take up an “American” sport (this has invariably occurred at a red light). All the more humorous that I am not an American…

It works. Interesting that Google Translate uses by default the absolutely most formal language possible and some awkward phrase construction, but it is understandable.
And I greatly appreciate your efforts to communicate in Italian (really my native language should be the official language of all things cycling related – unbiased opinion here).

Don’t you carry a multi tool with you? Always useful [SmartA$$ mode off].
As an example…

ParticipantAs the token Italian on this forum, very happy that we have another Tour winner 16 years after Pantani.

ParticipantLet me respectfully disagree with Aksiums. They are poopy in my humble opinion. Poor reliability and the hubs are nothing special.
Having said that, you could not go wrong on an Open Pro rim and if you want luxury I would heartily recommend an Archetype!

ParticipantYes, very… exciting crossing the 14th Street bridge last night with the wind…

ParticipantFantastic commute this AM. M Street was all open and I hit every green light possible all the way to K Street. 😎
Very pleasant riding weather. Let’s hope the weather stays unseasonably normal as long as possible!

Participant@vern, drinking beer (aka liquid carboloading) is always a good recuperation and nutrition technique!

Clueless spectator on cellphone collides with Tour leader Vincenzo Nibali, but fortunately Nibali does not crash.
Yes, all for an attempt at a selfie while speaking to someone on the phone. All well that ends well, I suppose.

The section of Penn between M St and 17th just before the whitehouse is one of my favorite parts of the commute. relatively stress free, timed lights and little traffic. If you ride before 8am, that is.
I regularly take the Custis through Rosslyn and over the Key Bridge, M St, then Penn all the way to the Capitol. Quickest way I’ve found to head east in DC, at the time I need to go.
That is the bit of Penn that I am riding – my office is before the White House.
On my commute in the evenings I like to ride on 15th on the bike path to get towards the 14th Street Bridge. That is a bit more hectic after 17:00 but not too bad in the scheme of things.

ParticipantYes thanks, I had read that thread here. I kept an eye out for the U-turners.
It was not too bad this morning, once through the mess that is Washington Circle the traffic on Penn was very manageable and hardly a cab to be seen… I realise it was just dumb luck at that particular moment in time.
