ParticipantHello all. Just returned to DC, took a look on the forums and found this horrible news. My condolences to Pete’s family.

ParticipantAlmost forgot to take this picture for my fellow riders (especially Klizotte!)… more salutations from the SHO of Team 12!
And yes, the mosquitos are an issue – but 10 days ago I was in Zika, Uganda, so these little fellers have got nothing on their brethren from across the pond!

ParticipantConditions continue to be trying here for Team 12’s SHO…
I understand conditions in the DC area were… breezy?

ParticipantConditions continue to prove challenging here in the SHO for Team 12. But fear not, I soldier on.

Palm trees suffering a bit due to all the heat in the last few days.

ParticipantA toast to my esteemed and soon to be all conquering Team 12 fellow cyclists!

Nile lager… the preferred choice in Entebbe!
Tusker Malt! For the discerning beer drinker in Nairobi…And don’t let Boomer in this thread. He is a dangerous fabricator of lies. He is jealous he is not on our team. If you see him, ride the other way. And remember – as long as you ride more than Boomer it is a successful BAFS competition!

Forgot to add to the N+1.
Ordered this up last week. Expected arrival: late February.

Not sure yet what components to hang on it. might try campy potenza, but swap for chorus levers (and to be super matchy-matchy, swap the silver potenza blades onto the chorus levers, or swap in chorus ultra-shift guts into the potenza levers…).
Excellent. And super-duper-plus points for the Campagnolo-ness!

ParticipantSalutations esteemed Team 12 colleagues, from the Southern Hemisphere Outpost (SHO).
Pete here. Apologies, but only just back from some long business trips that made riding impossible. First ride today – it’s just so hard given the heat and humidity (welcome to the full blown summer of Lima).
Thinking of all of you while I continue to tinker with the super lightweight gear given the… difficult weather conditions.
And remember – always ride in the spirit of besting Boomer, he is a cheater who rides on the wrong side of the road somewhere in Brexit-Land.

ParticipantLive streaming for those based in Lima who will be on a trip in Kampala?
Come on guys… this is international now. As long as you can guarantee a media blackout on all things related to BAFS for the British Isles we are all in this together. Excluding Boomer of course, given the cheater riding on the wrong side of the road that he is.

You have no idea, my good fellow forum user. And keep your guard up around that Boomer character.

As this is a new FS2017 season, and there may be newcomers unexposed, or old timers who may have already become numb about @PowerfulPete’s relentless nefarious ways, in a word: Beware!
I mean, come on, how can you trust a guy who volunteered to be a FS2016 team captain, and then, without any free, prior, nor informed consent, just disappeared half way through the FS 2016 season. Whoof! Vanished off of Strava (check his timeline; Strava doesn’t lie), Nada. Zilch. His team fell precipitously after his unannounced and unceremonious departure. Check last year’s standing. @Honz’s manipulation of the data doesn’t lie. Believe me, you do not want this guy on your team. Even less so to ride near, and especially behind him. After all, he rides in a southern climate, and eats roots and raw fish all day long. Would you want to stare at that saddle all FS season long? I don’t think so!!
P.S.
Oh, and he’s a sore loser, just like SteveO. Just check who came in 11th most miles among the FS2015 competition. Or who lost the FS2016 coffeeneuring pointless prize (check here: http://www.washingtonareabikeforum.com/showthread.php?t=9719)Jus sayin’!!

I do not even know where to being with all of this warped information and false news. I move to Latin America to continue the vigorous expansion of the BikeArlingtonForum franchise is a new market, at the request of the Board of Directors, and this is the thanks I receive? And for the record, I was volunteered. People are always volunteering me, even though I have not one managerial and/or work/responsibility bone or wee bit of cartilage in my entire system.
And dredging up old stats, that have clearly been doctored (I am not saying this, but your yuuuge numbers? Fake, I say. All rigged. The way we all know Strava is rigged for all those who did better than me in the standings)… forestry guys with no shame.
Oh, and my saddle is eminently “stareable at”. Hah.
Go drink a warm beer and enjoy your mild British autumn. While I have to suffer through a South American winter. As if the two were even comparable. When I can only keep hydrated with ice cold fermented and distilled beverages… the nerve. Sheesh.

Unfortunately I will have escaped to warmer climes in time for 1 January and will only be able to ride with you in hungover spirit.
I will, of course, document my first ride of 2017 and ask all of you for your recommendations on sunscreen given the very difficult riding conditions I will be subject to.
Now, if anyone would like to pointlessly ride at HP post-Christmas I am more than happy to join you.
Also, Boomer is still a cheater riding the wrong way and drinking warm beer. Just sayin’

ParticipantI am outraged! Don’t carp at me! Carp at Boomer. He is in the British Isles and works on agro-forestry. That means he is more weird than I (currently I am a Roots and Tubers Crops – RTCs – guy – we are so much cooler than the forestry folks, no really). Also he is in a part of the world where they drink warm beer and eat icky food. I am currently in a part of the world that is the birthplace of ceviche and the national drink is the Pisco Sour. Nuff said.
Also, I am about to suffer through the South American summer season! I know you feel the terrible injustice I will have to go through to ride in spirit with all of you!
A few points:
1. Discount Boomer miles. He is a cheater and will be riding on the wrong side of the road.
2. Happy to be told I need to be a slacker (although this is a natural condition for me) and/or whatever else given the weather advantage that the southern hemisphere presents me.
3. I should be traveling regularly to the DC area in Jan-March so will also be riding with you, occasionally, in person. Which kind of sucks, as I would rather be riding with you in spirit wearing my bib shorts.

@Judd, I like the idea of Dreary Saddles. It also involves imbibing warm beer… or so I am told. -
