Also, there is a tunnel under Pickett Road that opened 2+ years ago, so you may want to use that instead of left turn. See this Google Maps link.

Did you do the Difficult Run part of the cross county trail before? It’s the NW portion of the loop. If not, you will know why it’s called Difficult Run. MTB only. A new person could average 5 MPH or less easily.

Holy schnikes…what kind of ass hat would do this? If I were a guessing man, I’d say it’s probably the same ass hat who thinks that passing pedestrians (or others cyclists) without slowing down and not yielding to oncoming traffic in the opposing lane is perfectly acceptable. :( 😡

I think what happened is that the teen sneezed, without covering his nose and mouth, and the cyclist lectured him, but went too far.

Vienna Police: Cyclist Allegedly Grabs, Shakes Kid for Sneezing Outside

“The first incident involved a cyclist and a boy along the W&OD Trail around 6 p.m. on Sunday (March 15).

    According to the police report:

A juvenile reported that he was on the bike trail near the Whole Foods Market with his friends when he sneezed. A cyclist who was riding by stopped his bicycle and began yelling at the juvenile about the pandemic. The man grabbed the juvenile by the sweatshirt and shook him, then left the area westbound on the trail.”

I like Judd’s suggestion. Bring your own multi-tool, and adjust it yourself, but ask first. Some don’t like people adjusting things and potentially break something before they buy it.

I always carry kleenex tissue, just in case I use a restroom, and many have gone paperless, so less touching. It helps with removing grease and grime too if something happens to my bike.

Got REI newsletter in the mail today. 20% off full price items, and outlet store. No bike stuff. It starts this Friday, March 20, and ending Monday April 6.

March last year, it was the same thing, no bike stuff. Best deals last year were just before Memorial day and Thanksgiving.

Bike parking is not affected. The reason for reduced parking is that they need some place to put their equipment and construction materials, and that would be surface parking. Parking garages remain open, but EFC doesn’t have any. From the “No parking” link above:

“Beginning Sunday, March 15, surface parking lots at East Falls Church, West Falls Church, and Vienna stations will be closed for seven to nine months, as construction contractors begin the process of moving material and machines into place. Once these lots close, there will be no parking available at East Falls Church, severely limited parking at West Falls Church, and reduced parking at Vienna Station. Parking at Dunn Loring station is not impacted.”

It looks like the forum software was updated, but I am not sure. Subforum name appears along with posts in Mobile style(It’s on the lower left of the page, just click on “– vB4 Default Style”). I used my desktop to view that style, not my phone, so it might be different for phones.

One suggestion I forgot in my survey – the ability to mute sections of the forum would be a huge help for people who DON’T play Freezing Saddles. During the competition, posting there overwhelms everything else, and I’ve heard from many non-players that it’s pushed them away from the forum.

In a desktop, clicking New Posts shows subforum name, so I can ignore these, but in the mobile version there is no subforum name, so I can’t avoid some posts. If they were prefixed with FZ: …

As usual, the forum software compressed the images, making the street signs unreadable, but I guessed N Union ST and Pendleton ST using Google Maps.

How old is old? Flip phone old or iPhone6 old?

My older phone as of 2 years ago, had trouble with some httpS sites(not all). Security protocol changed at the time, and one such site I couldn’t access was https://www.rei.com I have newer phone now, so that is not an issue for me, but posting links only reduces the audience.

Some people with older phones may have trouble with some sites, so they can’t click on links, so a summary is helpful.
