DCist updated their story too (http://dcist.com/2018/09/cyclist_struck_in_hit_and_run_near.php):

The cyclist succumbed to his injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. He has been identified as Thomas Hendricks Hollowell, a 64-year-old from Arlington.

Police said the driver of a dark-colored sedan ran through a red traffic light, hitting Hollowell at “a high rate of speed.” The sedan drove northbound on 12th Street NW without stopping.

When did The Bike Lane move?

I think in the last two to three months. They are now few feet away from the W&OD just west of Sunset Hills RD. Here is their new location: https://www.thebikelane.com/storelocator/ Link to Google Maps.

You may want to get these high potency garlic pills. They are the only one I found that managed to make a stable form of Allicin, the active ingredient in garlic. They don’t taste like garlic, and have no side effects like gas. They worked for me, and many other people(see the reviews). When I take Metro, and people sneeze on my face, I go back home, and take 2 to 4 pills, and I might feel the initial symptoms; like dry throat, but it goes away after few hours. I may have to take another dosage after 4 to 6 hours just to be sure. I order about 5 or 6 bottles at a time, to save time and money. One bottle doesn’t last long, more like one week to 10 days, that’s at the time I was using Metro.

Here is another cheaper source, but I have had problems with them shipping one week later, or tell me that it was shipped, but in fact it was back-ordered and I had to contact them again to ship it. iHerb ships the same day, and one time they shipped by LaserShip and I got it the next day.

My only regret about this ride – besides it raining every year- is that it conflicts with Reji’s ride that looks really really fun… whomp whomp.

I didn’t do the 50 States ride, but why do the same thing again?(I know: friends), but I think Reji’s ride is more scenic, and isn’t that what a bee is supposed to do? Like smell the flowers? Besides, you would be leaving room for someone else to enjoy the ride.

You: Two cyclists who abandoned your bikes with some weed on June 21.

According to Vienna Police(PDF), “The marijuana and paraphernalia were turned over to the property officer for destruction.” So it’s safe to come out now and pick them up!

We’ll generally follow this route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28539378

Just after Mile marker 8, which is south of Fairfax Circle; there is a wide tunnel under Picket Rd so you don’t have to cross the intersection. It was built months ago. You could see it on Satellite View just North of the intersection.

+1 for Fairfax County Parkway, then to Centreville Rd via Franklin Farm Dr. Here is Google Maps link. It’s 0.8 Miles shorter than your original route, and 0.3 miles longer than the second one, but it’s a lot less stressful, and it’s all on paved side paths(Except part of Franklin Farm Dr, which has a wide shoulder/unofficial bike lane(and a Giant). I have done that route many times, with some variations on both Hybrid/Road bikes.

Need is the mother of invention, and the neediest group to get from point A to point B are commuters. So, we can divide cyclists into two groups:

1 – Commuters, and competitive cyclists(but these can pick and choose safer roads and trials, since they are not commuting to work).
2 – Recreational, fitness, touring, etc.

So commuters look for ways to increase their confidence more than other types of cyclists, such as taking classes, or going in a group ride. Other types may not have the same motivation. I personally use some roads, especially if there are bike lanes or sharrows. Even if there are no markings, like very light residential streets. However, even after 5 years of cycling I bail to the sidewalk or use alternative routes sometimes since I don’t commute to work. I have not taken classes or joined group rides yet.

What I always wonder about are the “Bicycles May Use Full Lane” signs. Is the interpretation that absent such a sign, bicycles may not use the full lane? If bicycles may always use the full lane, what is the need for such signs?

“Bicycles May Use Full Lane” is the new replacement for “Share the road”, because the later is confusing to some drivers as dkel illustrated.

Please see the video at the top of this page, which includes FSA Crankset: Crank Removal and Installation: Self-Extracting

I am not sure if you need 27mm x 1 crank puller, but the Amazon page you linked to is for a product that ships from China. This one ships from the US, and has same day delivery option.

More YouTube videos about FSA Crankset removal.

I have noticed that the traffic on Church ST is unusually high for the stores around. Following cars, I see they use it to get to/from Lawyers RD, which you can see from the W&OD instersection(Google Maps link). Apparently rolling through stop signs is preferred over Maple Ave even when the traffic is light.

I hope that the cyclists suffered only pride injury, and/or heal quickly.

What else don’t I know about wheels?

You can buy spokes and nibbles from most LBS for $2 to $3 per spoke/nipple set, and they measure it for you. If you don’t find the exact length and color, try another LBS, or even another branch of the same chain. Amazon and online stores usually sell by the box(32 to 36 spokes/nipples mostly), and the good ones cost like $30-$40+. Asking LBS to do it for you costs extra, but you can do it yourself if you have lots of time to watch Youtube videos about wheel truing.

    Or 110F temps

According to the forecast, Thursday to Sunday should be fully sunny without a cloud in the sky and high around 80, plus I think that segment of the trail is mostly shaded, which makes it feel 10 degrees cooler.
