How about we keep him from doing better than #1? He is 14 from the bottom as of a minute ago. We will soon have to start counting his position from the top (cause it will be easier). I’m due for a butt kicking from Mr. Consularider, the only thing we don’t know is when – if is certain.

LOL! I held him off as long as I could. He’s gonna pass me on his next ride.

Note that Consularrider is “de slacking”. Was last (on injured reserve), than third from the bottom, now 7th from last. Rising like a Phoenix he is!

You can’t stop him. You can only hope to contain him. ;)

Working at home today so did a round trip commute this morning. I hit Crystal City, Old Town, and Collingwood pit stops. All were great!! The good folks from Spokes gave me some great advice and adjusted one of my brake levers on the spot. Weird that I didn’t see many cyclists on the first leg, but there were hordes of people riding north on MVT as I was heading south. I agree with Kel on the silly passes. Other than that, it was great to see so many people out there. Good times!

I go the opposite way past Collingwood, but I might stop by the pit stop to see what’s going on. Probably 7:15 unless I leave early and hit it on the way back (I’m working from home so I’m gonna do a round trip to Crystal City and back before work).

Holy Cow!! I think I saw OneEighth and didn’t know it. Monday at the Crystal City pit stop. I feel like I’m part of this forum now. Bonus I caught a draft from RootChopper on the way in this morning.

Wow!! That’s awesome!! What happened to Fish on Bikes…..they faded big time. Props to Gainesville, AEP and San Diego.

There’s gotta be an analogy in there somewhere.

I don’t even like to drive up that hill. :)

Well…. I left 40 points on the table. I didn’t ride today or yesterday. I’m not too worried, though. It’s a marathon with the extra month this year. I’ll be out there again tomorrow. Looking forward to Bike to Work Week!

“But if you really want to know– the hill is on Belle View Boulevard, south of Alexandria (22306) from Fort Hunt Road to Quander Road.”

That’s a good hill. I’ve driven up it many times. :)

I’m feeling guilty ’cause I caught a ride with my wife this afternoon in her Prius to go out to lunch. It’s a hybrid so I guess I only feel half guilty. Other than that, I was totally car free today.

The alternate route I take from Alexandria paralleling the MVT goes down Potomac Ave., which, being relatively low on traffic, is an awesome place to do intervals and links back up with the MVT on Crystal Drive. I see people riding back ‘n forth doing workouts out there all the time.

This is a great idea. Hard to believe how traffic free Potomac Ave is. Probably the 25 MPH speed limit deters cars. Either that or drivers don’t know it’s there yet. It has nice smooth pavement, too. A few bits of construction to watch out for, but otherwise a very nice stretch.

I had a great time with the challenge. It was fun keeping tabs on local riders and teams. Like Rod Smith, I found the bike forum when I was looking for a team. I ended up joining FridayCoffeeClub Team 2 (but I gotta admit that I’ve never joined them for coffee….hope that’s ok!! :) ) It was motivating to watch everyone rack up points. I can’t say that I rode more miles because of the challenge, but I did ride more often. The rules encouraged me to go out for short, relaxing rides on off days to get the daily points.

It was cool watching the Arlington teams compete nationally. This area has some really dedicated cyclists. I’m glad I was part of it. Count me in next year!
