“Mourning Bird” This bird dressed very smartly with much detail was founded in 2014 by the Hyattsville CDC to honor Prince George’s police force who have perished.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic arrived and suddenly life got more… socially distanced. Franklin’s in Hyattsville, MD had the best response. Introducing the Quarantiki Room! Complete with sand and thematic music.

1/12/2023: the 30s

In 1935, the government purchased land for President Franklin Roosevelt’s first planned green town, Greenbelt, MD. On my bike today I visited historic Turner Cemetery, which was one of three family cemeteries existing on the farms that were purchased and, as the placard said, where the other cemeteries’ occupants were consolidated.

While I took a picture of that placard, and also visited the New Deal Cafe, I decided that this photo of Franklin and Eleanor would represent the 30s for this day.
