ParticipantSeems like a logical next step. Paving of the CCT south of Braddock rd in Accotink Park is scheduled to start this week.

but then I was thinking, can’t you calculate power from speed when you’re riding fixed?
In a very specific and tighly controlled environment, yes. You need to account for Crr, CdA, Grade, and Wind Speed and they all need to be constant. So unless you are on a track, or rollers in your basement it is not feasible.
I assure you that 8mph up 15th and 8mph down 15th street require vastly different amounts of power output even on a fixie.
You would want a Power Meter on a fixed gear bike for the same reason you want it on any other bike. 1) you are serious about training and power is the most useful metric. 2) to brag about your FTP

Personally, I think they should have a crit series in the RFK parking lot. So much closer than Greenbelt. It could be like the crits and the now unused airport in Brooklyn.
One of the biggest races in the Mid-Atlantic until 2009 (in 2010 it was cancelled) was the RFK crit. The permitting process is so terrible that is basically impossible to promote a race there. http://www.hubracing.com/criterium/rfk2009/

Audrey Clement is NOT a County Board Member. She’s a perennial candidate of the Green Party but most recently is running as an “Independent” hoping that new moniker might change the outcome for her. But your observation about her laughable “reckless endangerment” statement is spot on. Plus, I can’t imagine what route she might have had to take to get to the Courthouse that would’ve have anything to do with the Clarendon Cup road closures that could be in any way perceived as a “risk to her life.” But what is a politician without hyperbole!!
She risked her life because she literally lifted her bike over the fence in an attempt to cut across the course as the peloton of the pro race was approaching. She then got in an argument with some teammates about why it was such a problem for her to walk a block and cross the course at a guarded crossing.
As one of my teammates put it, “its a particularly dumb thing to say if you’re a candidate that wants to be pro-bike commuting. She alienates cyclists by complaining about the race, and alienates anti-cycling voters because she rides. Lose-lose.”

ParticipantI must have just missed it. I went through there about 7:07 and made a right on Walter Reed to go to coffee club.
I saw a few cars stopped at an awkward angle on the est side of the intersection and there were a number of people standing around on the sidewalk. I guess all the cars blocked the involved cyclist because I did not see them and just assumed it was a normal vehicle accident. I hope the cyclist is ok.

ParticipantAs of this morning, the right lane of vehicle traffic each way is closed. Both sidepaths were open as normal, except for the giant arrow-board being up on the curb causing a pinch point.

What I said in that other thread about DB, pretty much. And agree with the sentiment that it’s basically Fuji/Scattante/GT/etc.
FWIW there was a legit “ex-demo” DB liquidation a few months ago on the DC Used Bicycle Marketplace facebook group where prices were eminently affordable (I would’ve considered buying one if it fit my needs at the time although they went pretty fast anyway), and I’ve also seen them on The Clymb. So it’s possible the seller bought something like this and is trying to just turn a bit of $ on the deal.
Getting back to the original question about DiamondBack. This might have something to do with people trying to re-sell them.

It actually survived the ride home on my back.
It would have been easier to have brought it to happy hour.

One clarification on the cones: The shop is on good terms with City police and wants to stay that way, so I just wanted to note here that nobody from the shop itself moved any cones.
Didn’t mean to imply that anyone actually employed by the shop were responsible.
I will take full responsibility for moving cones, and getting into a pretty heated argument with the cop. He was a complete ass hole.

Major kudos to Tina. Google maps says 43.6 miles. I wonder what the longest commute today was?
She got me beat, this was my 2013 morning commute before I moved. https://app.strava.com/activities/54764051
But is she going to ride home too? https://app.strava.com/activities/54764041

ParticipantI will probably hang out until 6:15-6:30, need to be home by 7.
What are the hours for the EFC afternoon stop?

It is true that one simply has to be careful along that stretch; there are people jumping onto the trail from the Crossfit “gym” and then doing a crazy-ivan turn 50 yards down the trail — no idea why it was necessary for them to get on the trail in the first place, but in general someone should tell those people they don’t actually have to pay a gym membership to run on the W&OD
.
This one really bothers me. These idiots run straight onto the trail without looking, sprint 100 feet then stop and turn around to go back to the gym and do it all over again. There is no reason they need to use the trail, there is plenty of space in the parking lot for this nonsense.

There were a lot of people having a good time, but honestly the traffic cones in the middle of the trail were dangerous.
Dread and I almost got in a fight with Officer Friendly from the falls church police department. Phil from bikentic moved the cones every time the office walked away. Hopefully there wasn’t a wreck there.
