ParticipantI’ll be there at the 7p show. Probably going to go light on the drinking – saving up my tolerance for the Phil and Paul show for the next three weeks.

ParticipantThis is not what I had in mind when I said we needed to address issues with the S of Death (my preferred name for this section).

ParticipantFrom elsewhere:
VDOT is at it again. The re paving operation on Lee Highway has scattered signs all over the Trail coming into Rosslyn. Some signs are up, some are down. They are a major hazard on the Trail. They belong on the road. I spoke to a police offer on the scene and asked him to have them removed.

ParticipantI can’t think of any reason a Shimano MTB rear derailleur wouldn’t work in this application. Can you, Dirt?

ParticipantMarshall Drive works, yes, but if I were making your commute, I’d head right down Wilson/Clarendon Boulevard until you get to Courthouse, bearing right on 15th St. until you hit Rhodes/Queen, and take a right on that across 50, taking the left on the other side, roll through the Iwo Jima section (i.e., cross the sidewalk onto the path/road on the other side), and jump onto the trail when you cross Marshall. That’s how I get from VA Square to Memorial Bridge 4x a week.

ParticipantTim, I take exactly the number of shots that I end up posting, of course! But really . . . umm, lots. But far less than Philly.
For those of you who know parents looking for shots of their kids, I’m doing what I usually do – putting my raw, mostly-unedited, stream up. Links here.

ParticipantI just wanted to note that this item passed this weekend, on a 4-1 vote. I want to thank everyone who took the time to write in or appear at the County Board meeting. This is, of course, just the first step in a long process. Securing the funding for building the emergency access road/MUT path will take some time. If this is an important piece of infrastructure for you, please consider getting involved with that effort. Thanks again, all.

ParticipantI understand there was some portrait work going on this weekend . . .

ParticipantHi, Deb – excellent point. My understanding is that there are two possible issues. The first is that some members of the ANCC are unhappy with the decision of the ANCC board to grant an easement for the emergency access road, and may be voicing this unhappiness, emphasizing the total cost (to the County) of one of the implementation options. My view is that the cost issue can be addressed in the future (perhaps with one of the alternative options), and that securing the right of way is simply the first (and necessary) step. The second issue – and this should be given “I heard from someone who heard from someone who told them” status – is that others involved with the process feel as though the County could have asked for more from the ANCC. The linked staff report outlines the various concessions and whatnot. I have no particular view on building heights and streetscaping along Army Navy Drive, myself.
If any one else has more information, or differing views, please join in.

ParticipantThanks for the heads up, consularrider. They came in handy for me, today (had to go to Radio Shack to buy something, while trying very hard to avoid the Stare of Lance from the posters on the wall).

ParticipantWish I could join for part of the ride out to Middleburg (if only to document the rolling thunder that will be you). Alas, it’s going to be a packed day/weekend.

ParticipantWhat a giant . . .

ParticipantWas discussed and noted with Arlington’s trails guy last night. Filled with cold-patch, yes?

ParticipantThere’s uncovered parking right in front of the Macy’s north entrance (Wilson Blvd side). If it’s dry, not a bad place – very high foot traffic. Not sure if there’s anything in the garage itself.
