Sunday got out to Wakefield and enjoyed pretty much perfect conditions. Yesterday was on the road with a couple buddies- I’ve been fighting a wicked cold, so I played “lead-out” on a couple segments to help them get KOM’s… actually kinda fun!!

I used to do this too, but now I just throw CO2 cannisters at cyclists parked on the sides of the trail as I rocket past them.
At 20 mph, just drop them about 50 yards before your intended target- I mean, person needing assistance. They should bounce/skid the rest of the way and stop within a few inches of them- good to go!
PING! PONG! WHACK!!!

ParticipantIf anyone has a connection with one of the new bikeshares, I’d love to help service/maintain a fleet or two…

ParticipantDo you have a quick/master link on the chain? If so, you can pop that loose and thread the chain out of there if need be…

ParticipantIt’s hard to quantify the added value that comes with purchasing a bike from your local shop. First- the bike is assembled, tuned, and test ridden (I charge $70 for that service). Any issues that may have arisen during shipping(bent wheels, damaged fork, etc) have already been addressed. Warranty issues that may pop up down the road are easier to deal with… And of course(depending on the shop), you’ve earned a bit of respect and gratitude from that shop owner that may be paid back to you above and beyond in the future… I’m part of a new breed of “bike shop”(service oriented, mobile), but purchasing your bike from a local shop still has definite values….

ParticipantI live and ride in and around Manassas. The city proper has decent infrastructure, and I can be virtually alone on a road in Nokesville/Faquier county in 10 minutes pedaling…

What a day, what a ride!!!! My son and I had a heck of a time! 99% of the other riders were very encouraging and courteous, giving us plenty of space and being respectful! Organization and the router were better than last year, and the weather committee was ON POINT!!!

ParticipantRegistered with my son (7, but he’s 8 for the day)… Going to be an epic adventure!!!
