Was that dbb I passed as he hammered up the MVT connector to the IoD this evening? There are not too many beards like that out on the trail. I would have shouted a greeting, but you were gone in a trice.

THAT is an eye opener. Thanks.

You: The tourist (?) in the van with Ohio plates, to my left, IE in the through lane, who was signalling a right turn

Thank you for using your turn signals. That meant I could anticipate your illegal right turn (since you had somehow missed the right turn lane to the right of the bike lane) and was able to creep into the crosswalk and scoot out ahead when the light changed, and not get right hooked.

I think you’ve got a twofer. Please post again in Missed Connections. :)

Yes. It showed some potential but then quickly went off the rails.

Radar maps showing this kerfuffle out of the area by 5 pm, earlier to the West and North.

I heard reports of rain and saw radar of stuff blowing through. By the time I walked out the door, the sky was blue but there was standing water everywhere. Dodged another one.

A couple of votes for Light and Motions…
Also borrowed a Light and Motion Urban (not sure which model) from Proteus that I will be returning that has equally impressed me.

Over time I have found lights have become smaller/lighter, easier to install and remove on the fly, with impressive light outputs and increasingly useful battery life.

The L&M Urban series, besides being light, self-contained and bright, also pivot. This solved my problem of not much perpendicular space on my mustache bars.

…Of course the answer is N+1 – a bike that allows easier tire changes.

The true answer is N+1 – a bike that lives with studded tires year round. No tire or wheel changes needed. A reasonably priced mountain bike with fenders and Hakkapalitta W240 studded tires is resting in my garage right now, just waiting for the first snow/ice fall.

…was by CABI. Del Ray Apartments station ► Longbridge ► Iwo Jima ► 15th & North Scott. It works! The only downside was hauling that mass of pig iron (sic) up 15th Street.

Many thanks to to all who RSVP’d – that’s a big help and very much appreciated!

And many thanks to you for setting this all up and wrestling with Cap City management and moving chairs around and….

It was great to meet DanB, GovernorSilver and Kitty for the first time. With new folks showing up I’m starting to feel like an old hand.

Sorry to be a little out of touch these last couple of days. Tomorrow is looking great! I’m planning to call Cap City with our estimated count later on this evening as the patio is likely to be very popular on such a nice day.

Kitty, GeneralSilver and any other newcomers, I hope you’ll be able to make it! Please let me know or post if you have any questions. And don’t worry if you can’t get there right at 5 pm. We’re usually going pretty strong 6 to 7 pm and beyond.

If anyone else would like to join us (and maybe earn some more points for the NBC!), please let me know as soon as you can. See you all tomorrow!

Oh what the heck. I need a beer. I’ll be there. Hope I’m not too late to sign up. If I am, I’ll just stand off to the side, swilling my brew.

You seem like a prime candidate for Freezing Saddles, Kitty. You can be on my team. Everyone wants to be on my team.

May I be on your team, too? Wait, aren’t teams selected by the draw, taking into account previous performance and all that?

I’m a mountain biker, a year-round commuting dweeb, a fixie-riding hipster, a Cat-7 racer (sic), a family cyclist, a neighborhood cruiser, a cycling tourist, an ice & snow biker… All should be preceded with the adjective “slow”.

I spent of couple of pedal strokes with Ian74 on the MVT this evening. Pleased to meet you, sir. His pace is much faster than mine, so pretty quickly this was the view. It was actually much worse than it looks. I cheated and used the 10x zoom, trying to catch him with my camera if not my legs.

What the heck. I’m playing with Strava in preparation for Freezing Saddles and figured I may as well throw in my junk commuting miles. I’m in.
