Wouldn’t it have been difficult to drive through this? The driver not impaired? Sure, hours after the car was found. How about when the car was driven onto the trail?

Well dang. There is no reason to show up then, is there?

I’m trying to visualize an angel grinding and it is a little disconcerting. Do the wings oscillate?

Something tells me the “Noob” part of your forum name will be invalid very shortly.

You could also use the Crystal City VRE station, then take Crystal Dr to Long Bridge Dr to Boundary Channel to the 27 Trail to the Mt Vernon Trail. Take the Key Bridge into DC and either cut through Gtown’s campus, or take surface streets to American. Not knowing exactly where you’re going, it looks to roughly the same distance, but possibly faster because less city stop-and-go.

I’ve never noticed before, but it looks like there’s a dirt path in a park labeled “Whitehurst Parkway” that would cut some distance if you went through Georgetown.

Construction of the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital new med/surg pavilion and work around the Lombardi Center has pretty much cut off any legal cut through of the campus. It has made a major mess of Reservoir Road as well.

The best solution is for cyclists to be allowed to take the bus lanes. Otherwise there are going to be many impatient drivers lined up behind the northbound cyclists. I’ll probably take the lane and let the drivers stew.

Not anymore! Frank and I got moved to Crystal City since the University is staffing Ballston. So even though the sign up genius shows space in Ballston, don’t sign up there.

What? You and Frank aren’t volunteering to be the Two Sisters? Dresses are provided.

I just can’t stay away from the Crystal City Water Park. Signed up for the pit stop there.

I drove to work yesterday. I never do that. It was awful, terrible, painful, slow and expensive. $25 to park for the day? At that rate I’ve saved $100,000 over the last 20 years (I know, I know, parking didn’t cost $25/day in 1999, but I’ve been bike commuting since ’93 so it’s a wash). An hour to get to George Mason and 50? I’m home with a beer by then on a normal day. Driving is for suckers and last resorts.

I regretted every time I drove to work during the past 10 years. The worst day on a bike is still better than in a car.

Tree down blocking the spur to the trail that goes under the Humpback Bridge. The loop off of Humpback can be used to get around it. I guess the desire path is currently undesirable.

I ride through there fairly often and, like you, I had not seen any reason to dismount and was wondering what the deal was… until the middle of the day the other day when there were suddenly a lot of workers under there blocking most of the trail doing construction of some sort (unclear what). And then, a few hours later… gone again!

Perhaps the workers could put the signs out only when they are working under the bridge? BTW, someone Lumberjacked the east sign.
