3/5/2021 Monster
To me my monster is (1a) a strange or terrifying shape, (3) a threatening force and (4) unnatural

I’d agree that his glasses are unnatural!

ParticipantAnd last email, here’s a link to what we’re going to see. Feel free to print it and check them off — keeps me honest.

I went to my local bike shop in search of a “Yeti” product with a graphic on it. Alas, they’re a Trek shop so no joy. However, I did see the logo from a local brewery that celebrates a well known Fairfax County monster legend. I present The Bunnyman.

College Park Lanes aka Bowlero. I serenaded my biking buddies, humming Ravel’s “Bolero”, made famous by the movie “10” starring Bo Derek. (They were unimpressed.)

Rumi, if you like “Bolero”, you need to listen to this podcast: https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/radiolab/articles/unraveling-bolero It’s absolutely fascinating!

ParticipantNew mural in Leesburg. Ping me if you want a hint to find it. Leesburg has enough cool public art now to make it worth the ride out the W&OD!

Not sure how much business they’re getting right now, Bowlero in Leesburg is in a very high-tone shopping center!

You may want to delete the first one. Drevil’s rules say you can’t post more than one.
Technically, he can – he just doesn’t get a full point.

3/3/21 – Train
Like many others, I went with a shot of MetroRail, in this case, a westbound Orange Line train, which will soon no longer be stopping at East Falls Church as that station is slated for closure as WMATA cuts costs due to the Pandemic downturn:-/Sent from Boomer_Cycles via my iPhone using Tapatalk
Which is why everyone needs to answer the Metro survey with a big “DO NOT CLOSE THE STATIONS!!!” And get your supervisor and other elected officials involved.

Did you see the mural across the street from that giraffe [emoji3069], at the art store??

Yes, Lefty Laura took her publicartfinder photo with that one! Have you seen the ones in the garage?

ParticipantThis was a true wormhole, connecting two parks and two neighborhoods. I’m not sure if this is Falls Church or Annandale – but we were on the way from FC to Annandale so … at any rate, this one is from Slade Run Drive to Rose Lane. If you enter from the north, the park sign says Holmes Run II, so I named this one HRII

ParticipantAt Mosaic. It’s so nice to be out to have great weather to enjoy outdoors art in a leisurely fashion. I saw yet another mural new to me there today. They’re really getting decorative!
This is another by Kelsey Montague

Participant3/3/21 Train
The best part about standing on a bridge over I-66 awaiting a train photo of the Metro is seeing all the people in cars that are inbound … and not moving.
