I’m pretty sure there is at least one street sign that says “Samoa” there. I sincerely doubt there is any heather though.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk (actually not — Tapatalk didn’t upload the photo. I ask the indulgence of the cabal since I didn’t see the loading error until after midnight. I was on a series of planes most of yesterday and just squeezed in the ride when I arrived in El Paso)

Participant3/6/23 Donut
I was going to take one for the game and sacrifice by eating one of these interesting takes on donuts. Made with rice flour, they’re supposed to be delicious. However, they were not open yet, so I had to content myself with a photo since I had to get home for a meeting.

Participant3/5/23 Square
Hunters Woods ES has an artist in residence program that works with that year’s fourth graders to produce some kind of artwork that adorns the school grounds. Many of them are mosaics made of little teeny tiny squares. This set is made with hand formed terra-cotta tiles on which the students each formed something from nature. They are absolutely adorable, and this one is a great representative square of them all.

Participant3/4/23 Lines
The sculpture, entitled “Stabile”, is by Kevin Reese and the 4th grade students of Hunters Woods elementary school of 2006.
While I was contemplating it today, the top line kept moving around being pushed by the wind. Not so much fun to bike in, but fun to see the sculpture in action.

Okay. New topics.
I am typing new topics as a new post because the first post in this thread cannot take any more characters.
Anyone need a pick-me-up? This week’s scavenger hunt is inspired by Burl Ives’ “The Donut Song” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzV-8TofHTw).
It’s a good song to sing when you need to remember to accentuate the positive, and it comes with a bonus challenge! Any day of the week earn an extra point for finding one of these things from Verse 2:
– Bulldog wearing Pants,
– Dancing Alligator,
– something from “Pango Pango”3/4/23 Saturday Lines
3/5/23 Sunday Squares
3/6/23 Monday Donut
3/7/23 Tuesday Hole
3/8/23 Wednesday Sparrow
3/9/23 Thursday Rainbow
3/10/23 Friday PhilosophySo does that mean TWO photos for the day we find the bulldog wearing pants — or one post with two photos – or the bulldog instead of whatever that day’s subject is? You know I’m a rule follower – gimme some rules!
Please.

Participant3/3/23 No place like home
These baby goats at Frying Pan Park, about a week old, live a very good life in their nice warm, dry barn home.

Participant3/1/2023 Tin Man
So we wouldn’t have Falls Church Tin Man overload, I decided to use my photo from Herndon’s Tin Man instead. What’s not to love about a giant metal man made out of car and bike parts offering you pizza and beer?

Participant3/1/2023 Tin Man
I originally posted the Tin Man in Falls Church, but Boomer posted it too, so I deleted and went with my other choice, the Tin Man in Herndon. What’s not to like about a Tin Man who has pizza and beer and is made from old bike and car parts? (Had a bad sun angle so it was tough to get a square-on shot)

Unlike in Oz, this guy is not at a crossroads. He seems very sure where the office is. Found in Falls Church.

Raised yellow bricks help the visually-impaired when crossing roads
I always love how these look like Lego bricks. I found out recently that they are called “truncated domes”. Who knew?

Participant2/27/23. Yellow brick Road
I have had the Elton John song as an ear worm all day long! Only had time for a short ride, but I found my version of the yellow brick road on my ride. The yellow brick road represented hope, and opportunity to learn through challenges. These gorgeous daffodils, many of which have not yet bloomed, represent hope to me that spring is on its way!

Participant2/26/23 Ruby Slippers
In Texas these are what we call ruby red slippers. And the fact that it looks like a dumpster has fallen on the wearer, could it be…? Are we in another Oz?
