Leaving Dupont in about 15 minutes. Taking 14th to MVT, to 4 mile run if anyone wants to meet up.

See you there and have a hot toddy waiting please!

Hmmm … 2014 goals. For some reason I’m a bit stymied on this one but here is what I’ve come up with so far:

    Mileage: 6000. I like 500 mile months.
On Bike Goals: Enter a cross race, ride more gravel, and complete at least two centuries.
Off Bike Goals: Get back to paddling by taking one kayak camping trip and maybe throwing in a race or two.

Definitely casual. This is a place where cyclists are always welcome.

And from the looks of tomorrow’s forecast I hope they will welcome soggy cyclists!

Just put the cross wheels back on the Viaje and we’ll see of the studded ogre gets to play on Friday.

I did get to ride near the historic Jamestown and Williamsburg areas, which was kinda neat. (I had the opportunity because I DNF’d the race, which had a more mundane bike course. Since I was out of the race, I decided to go for a scenic casual bike ride on my own.)

Few better places to ride that Williamsburg and Jamestown in my opinion!

Oh and no shame in that DNF. I’m still hearing rumblings about how poorly planned the swim was. The James can have a deceptively strong current to it and it sounds like that, along with barge traffic, just were not factored into the timing.

BEST: Impossible to narrow it to one. So I’ll pick 4 in no particular order.

    1. This Forum and Freezing Saddles. You all have rekindled my passion for bikes and its been great fun.

Alex, Mo, eminvia and kelonwheels on the “girls gone gravel” ride that dvc organized for us.

    2. Mountain Biking Slickrock.

    3. Touring 397 miles along the Erie Canal

    4. My Viaje.

WORST: Perhaps having paddled very little.

Happens to me all the time. I have the “auto pause” set for “when stopped.” Damn thing likes to auto-pause on me when I’m slowly crawling up a hill…

Oh I hate that! When I first got my Garmin Jan set it up to auto pause when I was going less than 3mph. Needless to say the first time I used that GPS while mountain biking half my ride wasn’t recorded! I have since changed that setting bit it definitely wasn’t good for my ego!

I am going to ride over to spokes and Bikenetics this weekend.

Bikenetic would be a great place to get the bike especially if service is important to you since they offer free lifetime maintenance on bikes they sell. Note though that they are closed through Jan 1. Silly guys want to go for a bike ride or something.

Did I send your wife that picture I took of you using your gloves as ear warmers during our last gravel grinder?

Well aside from the wheels I already bought myself, Santa brought me a k-edge for my Garmin and a bunch of non-bikey stuff.

Yes I know it is 60 degrees out there right now and it will be 70 on Sunday but it MAY snow again and if it does you may need studs:
