+1 for Light and Motion. From winter commuting to night time mountain biking.
Also, they have pretty great customer service.
I’ll just say that I blissfully know nothing about the cygolite customer service.

Participant+1 for the cygolite. The brighter ones come with bar and helmet mounts. Plus the batteries are replaceable/interchangeable. $100 should get you 700+ lumens that will last for a long time. I’ve had mine for 2 years the battery is still strong and the light is indestructible. I’ve dropped it countless times and it holds up to the rain just fine.

Huh, interesting! I haven’t seen that before, but it certainly looks clean to cross the cables.
Yes between the internal cable tubes and the cross the cable routing on this frame is very nice. Although I wouldn’t have complained if the rear derailleur guide had continued inside the frame for longer.

It looks like cables are also on wrong sides of the bike — or do they cross them inside the frame?
They cross inside the frame.

ParticipantSealed cables and cable routing.

ParticipantI finally had a weekend to work on the bike, and the parts needed. I’ve got the shift cables and housing in place. I used jagwire sealed shift cables which should help keep things crisp during muddy rides. Although it must add some friction to regular shifting.
I wasn’t sure about the routing for the front brake line and I took what I think is a somewhat unusual line, but the housing seemed to lay more naturally this way than when I ran it straight down from the bar.
Still left to do:
Tune the shifting
Fill the hydraulic fluid
Bar tape
Seat
PedalsThanks Hozn for the wheels.

Did everyone else think this would be an E-assist bike?
Terrible name, good price – after the ~60% off.

From the article, this is a pretty interesting observation that supports the safety/infrastructure argument:
That could just as easily read;
“The percent of women riders increased on the weekends and in the park when they weren’t heading to work or a fancy night out. Women are happy to ride bikes when the subsequent activity doesn’t require make-up and fancy hair”
Causation and correlation are tricky things to separate.

ParticipantFrom the article:
“Tests held in 2012 found that allowing the cyclists to move more freely cut down the chances of collisions with cars, including accidents involving the car’s blind spot.
Where there are no traffic lights for cyclists, they must respect the main lights.”
So at intersections where the minons haven’t gotten around installing cycling traffic lights you must continue to follow the traffic rules we know are more dangerous.

I use cheaper tires on the rear since they wear faster
Fast wearing seems like an odd requirement, but to each their own.
This blowout talk has made me wonder if I should rotate my front tire to the back, retire the back as a spare and put on a fresh front tire. Does anyone do this?
