I assume that’s a problem for people who like skinny tires.
It’s got a metal fork with plenty of room for 37s with fenders; rotor clearance isn’t an issue.
On the road bike, I believe clearance would be an issue, yeah. My CX fork fits 50mm tires, but specs a max rotor size of 160, so probably not clearance there. Not sure if the size limit is due to load or what.
Edit: in looking more closely, I’m not sure whether I could fit anything larger than 180 (if that) in the cx fork.
Edit2: TRP sells 180 and 203 rotors for use with “all their disc brakes”. Does TRP say the Spyre can’t be used with larger rotors?
Edit3: the TRP Spyre even includes an adapter for 180F when you choose the 160mm rotor.

I find their page very confusing, but it may be that they do work with larger rotors and just only sell 140 & 160 combos so I’ll retract that. I’ve still heard enough complaints about their screw adjustment mechanism, pad retention, and overall performance that I’m not interested in trying them. And most importantly, they don’t have orange.
I am tempted by the trp’s hy/rds but I’m a bit skeptical of the complexity; that’s what I find attractive about the pauls–the design looks pretty bulletproof.

Yes, they only sell 160/140 combos — since that’s all anyone [else] uses on road/cx
I’m sure you have good sources, but I’ve got 12,000 miles on Spyres now (8k on the commuter, 4k on the road bike) with zero issues and excellent all-condition stopping power. Perhaps some of those reports reference the first/pre-recall edition which did, I believe, have an issue with pad retention at end of pad life … or something like that; that was a couple years ago. Anyway, it obviously doesn’t matter to me what brakes people choose, just looking to avoid propagating misinformation about rotor size compatibility or whatever. One legitimate issue that folks have with Spyres (or Rever) is that the dual-piston design makes the caliper stick out on the inboard side more than something like a BB7 (or presumably the Paul caliper); this can make contact with spokes with certain hubs/spoke combos. On the flip side they stick out less than the single-caliper designs on the outboard side, which is nice if one is concerned about heel clearance on road frames [with calipers mounted in the rear triangle].
I also wish Spyres were available in orange.

Do they even let Portland hipsters like yourself buy geared bikes?

I hope so. Somebody stuck a bunch of hills and volcanoes and mountains and stuff out here. And that’s just in the city!

ParticipantAll I want is a handmade Italian steel bicycle with chromed lugs, a fancy paint job and a full Campy groupset. I priced one together at Wrenchscience for the pictured bike and it was almost 7K with full Chorus. My wife is adamantly opposed and I will likely never get a new one. She says that if I’m buying an Italian handmade bike, we also need enough money to fly us both over to Italy to pick it up. I keep hoping a miracle happens on ebay (with her blessing of course)

ParticipantVolagi Viaje XL. Don’t think I need a titanium or carbon frame since I’m not a competitive racer, so steel will do. I like their fitting program if you buy a bike from them – you fly over there for a fitting, they put you up for one free night at a hotel, and give you a rebate towards the cost of your flight based on how much you spent on the bike.
I love to travel, so I’m a sucker for this kind of deal, plus I like the looks of their bikes.

Participant@GovernorSilver, you are aware that there is at least one very, very vocal supporter of Volagi on the forum?
She might even be willing to talk to you about her bike (she has a steel frame, IIRC).

It’s worse than that — there are three of them now.
