ParticipantI like the idea, but not that design. I like having lights on my helmet to help drivers know where I’m looking (If you can see the red, I can’t see you. If you see the white ones, I’ve seen you). Plus putting a little bob in the lights helps distinguish me from a motorcycle at a distance.

ParticipantGeneral comment: Don’t hate on the ACPD too much for doing (part of) what we’ve been asking for in a less than perfect way. If you’ve asked for police to be at the intersection this might be a great day to thank the people you asked. I think we’ll have more luck in the future if we acknowledge the success we’ve had in the past. No one is going to try to appease a seemingly unappeasable group. This is not to say we shouldn’t ask for more/ better but make sure to say thanks for what’s been done so far.

Sorry to hear that you were on a motorcycle.
But how does someone not know to yeild to traffic on the circle, that’s about the only unique rule to traffic circles.

“You really need to get a taillight and a headlight” .
I find I get less negative feedback when I go with a more fact based comment like “I found you very hard to see” rather than a command “you need…”.

For real this time.

ParticipantI can hit FMCC III and II with you. 10/10 would work better for me.

ParticipantGreat question. I think the future LBS is really a coffee shop / bar that services bikes and showcases gear. People come for the bikes but pay for the food. If Revolution and Java shack were co-located I’d spend more money at both. If Java shack sold beer I’d never leave.

Hey, did I ride behind you and then in front of you this morning…
Subtle brag, nicely done.

ParticipantI think it comes down to – it depends – on the road, the traffic, the rider. Do what you feel comfortable with and feel free to mix it up. Keep in mind that blocking traffic isn’t great and getting hit is terrible – things everyone should be keeping in mind at all times anyway.

GB – you might want to tighten your chin strap.
Possible responses:
I always yell when I crash so this is actually just right.
The strap is right, the helmet’s just 4 inches too far forward.
Oops, I put it on backwards this morning. (How do ppl do that?)I think it looks worse than it is, but maybe it’s slipped a little long over the summer. I’ll see about tightening it this evening.

ParticipantI’m in for Thursday coffee in Vienna.
Is anyone interested in FMCCIII in Herndon on Friday? Maybe at a more civilized time like 8:30-10.
*I’m not 100% sure the Green Lizard will be open; their website doesn’t say they’ll be closed.

I want Spring. Wait. No. I NEED Spring. And looking at the forecast we’re at least a week or more off. But that isn’t going to stop me from dreaming — dreaming about sunshine, warm breezes and picnics. Wait … I have an idea. WE SHOULD GO FOR A BIKE RIDE!
So here is the plan. I’m going to keep an eye on the weather and when I see a day in, I hope, the next few weeks where we flirt with 70 degrees, I’m going for a bike ride. A bike ride during lunch, in real sunshine, around the Mall. I’m not going to rush and I’m going to picnic. And you should come too!
The plan will be to meet at the CABI station at Smithsonian around 12:15pm. Bring your lunch. We’ll circle the Mall, maybe head to Haines Point, stop for our picnic and then head back to the office. I’m guessing we’ll be out more than an hour but surely the powers that be understand that a 70 degree day after this winter warrants a long lunch! Who knows, if we time it right, this ride might even coincide with the Cherry Blossoms.

Is anyone interested in a coffee club on the later side, say starting at 9:30? A PPDOCC (post preschool drop-off coffee club) at Buzz Bakery in Ballston? It’s long shot but I figured it’s worth a try since it is a coffee club of one right now
What time is that? 8:30? (Buzz Bakery is a good location for me, but 8 would be about my latest time)
Is anyone interested in a Bethesda Coffee Club?
