Condos need to do what they do with other things and just charge per bike. Maybe some do. They should do that for cars as well.
I lived in an Arlington condo and was on the board. The bike room was a perennial issue. It was always way too full of barely used bikes (and regularly used bikes). As a daily rider, I finally got tried of maneuvering my bike through the madness (and regularly bruising my fingers, and greasing my clothes) and started keeping it on my deck, which violated policy but was not enforced. Honestly, if they had charged me $100 bucks a year or something (and similarly reduced condo fees) I probably would have thought harder about how many bikes to keep AND I would have been happier with my bike parking. (And the condo should definitely charge for vehicle spots which of course they didn’t.)
#freeparkingisntfree Its true with cars and with bike room issues.

I would channel my feelings into contacting board members. Quite honestly, might be worth a brief appearance at the public comment period of a Board meeting. Looks like other cities have more “progressive” views on the ability to rely in video evidence.

This has become a new issue for me with several family members who need better restroom access. (One obvious issue with restrooms and water fountains is that their availability might also be limited by time of year or day.)
elbowsParticipantThanks for enlightening me. Wonder why so many of the trucks have New Jersey plates. I see the cabs are Covanta but most of the trailers/plates seem to be from New Jersey.
elbowsParticipantWhat’s the status of the opposition raised by some of the local businesses along there? I don’t have the letter handy (I believe it is on twitter), but it was signed by Annie’s Hardware and City State Brewing. Thanks.
elbowsParticipantThe idling New Jersey trash trucks are stinking up my new-MBT-high. Seems that 2-3 of the tractor trailers are regularly idling their diesel fumes right next to the trail. Isn’t this illegal in DC? According to the DC site, the fine is $500. If it actually were to be enforced, seems a bit high, esp if drivers are not from here and don’t know. Wish there were a sign to notify them.
As far as reporting to 311, is it even worth it?
On another note, I’m woefully ignorant on what happens at Ft Totten. Where does the trash get transferred from and to?
elbowsParticipantThank you. Wish that NPS provided 30% of the information that your post provided. https://www.nps.gov/rocr/planyourvisit/conditions.htm
elbowsParticipantThanks for pulling this together. So is the new revised revised opening for the Ft Trash-ton bypass now the END of March?
Looking forward to a potential end of inhaling bits of trash each day not to mention the roads in the area were extra fume-y this morning.

elbowsParticipantWhere do things stand on responsibilities around rebalancing? The station nearest to my house is perpetually full and now the other one is as well. I recognize that we are still in a pandemic and I know that I can forgo bikeshare or walk a mile for my trips, but I do like to see people use bikeshare.
Are there metrics for stations? Do we not care that stations are perpetually full/empty? (I don’t mean the daily ebb/flow.)

elbowsParticipantI know you’re probably just the messenger, but at least on my phone, I may only select one type of service for “What service do use for transportation?” The options are car, personal transportation (not including car), bikeshare, walking, electric scooter, and other. Is metro other? Is bus other? What if a person uses more than one method? Which type of transportation – does this mean for getting to/from work? Is this the most-commonly used method? What does personal transportation mean? Given that this is a research methods class, perhaps give this question a bit more thought.
