ParticipantI was cold this morning, I am NOT SUPPOSED to be cold in August. I just hope this doesn’t mean winter is going to be even colder than last winter I cannot take it. I am trying to really build up the miles training for my climate ride and I need some really hot weather, since that is my favorite riding weather. I had to wear a jacket this morning. Not fair. Did anyone see the tree down on the Mount Vernon trail? It was a huge one. They had yellow police tap across the trail but I went under it. Wasn’t sure what to do but the biker ahead of me did it so I followed had to pick up the bike and climb over the tree. Glad I was on my road bike and not my heavy commuter. We shall see if they have cut it up for the ride home.

ParticipantThis morning’s commute was one of those hard one’s, really didn’t want to wake up this morning and did question my sanity of being a bike commuter, after all I am old, I should be resting, at least that is what “Fat LIZ” was telling me. Luckily fit and spry LIZ won out and I rode in. It wasn’t a pretty commute but I am happy that i got up and struggled the 18.5 miles in. I am sure the ride home will be easier and I will not have to feel guilty about being lazy. Being a bike commuter is hard some days.

ParticipantWell this just cannot be right, I have spent a lot of money and still I am slow as (I was going to say dirt, but on this list that won’t work) heck. Hmmmm must be something wrong with this calculation, maybe it doesn’t work for the over 50 crowd.
it’s okay, I go fast enough that I do occasionally pass a jogger and on a red letter day I see tourist on Bike and Roll bikes and I can “almost” always go faster than them. 1 more hour till time to go home. Still haven’t figured out how to make it to happy hour, Arlington is just so far away. maybe ride home and get hubby to drive me over……. hmmmmmm

ParticipantI love this weather, The heat makes everyone stay inside so I almost have my own private trail again. I am thinking of trying to make it to the Thursday Happy Hour but you people are really far away.
But I can’t stand not being able to put a face to all these names. Should have ridden my road bike this morning it is lighter than the monster commuter. Who know I am looking at the logistics. It will be hot this afternoon. Stay hydrated. And rejoice, IT ISN’T WINTER !!!!ejwillis62

ParticipantI have lost a lot of weight through a combination of yoga biking and jogging all very slowly. I started out on a very bottom of the line mountain bike type bike from sports authority. Biking was hard on that bike, big tires very heavy. A young guy in my office kept telling me to go to a bike store and get a “real” bike. After a couple of months I did and got my first trek hybrid, it was AWESOME….I felt like I was flying on the paths, hills became so so so much easier biking was fun and I started to totally love in. Now a few upgrades later I still love it. I have moved on to thinner tires and did have a road bike for a while but did not enjoy the bent over handle bars. Now I have what is best described as a trek that is in between a road bike and a hybrid with a straight handle bar. I love it. While I feel like I am flying out there I know I am very slow but the bike ride like a dream. Sometimes a bike upgrade is just what you need to ride longer and much much easier. I have kept the weight off since the end of 2009 so it must work. Biking is so much easier than jogging we get to coast down hill.

ParticipantI was enjoying myself out there today. It was cold but really awesome and I definitely think the purple bike is worth extra. And the pure helmet, purple hat and beautiful pink jacket and new black shoes with matching pink stripes. I just need purple tassels.

ParticipantI think this winter I qualify for a first place prize for having spent the most money on new stuff, new bike, new bike seat, new shoes, pedals for said shoes, winter riding pants, winter base layers, gloves, hats, lights, bar mits (they are awesome) etc… the list is huge. Cold weather and having the mount vernon trail all to myself…priceless….
