ParticipantNo, no polar vortex I was loving the 90’s I want them back. I need my heat… this is not fair it is july it should be in the 90’s. The rest of you get your cool in the fall and winter. We summer people need our high temps.

Participantglad to hear IOWA is nice, I am heading there at the end of the month for RAGBRAI. yaaa

ParticipantI made it home safe and sound, it was really windy at the end got poured on but not to bad. Who knew I could ride 18 – 19 mph all the way home.
It was amazing how cold the air got as the storm moved in. I probably would have arrived home dry had I not stopped for a picture.

ParticipantNow you were not supposed to post anything like that. I am to much of a newbie, but I am heading out now. If lightening strikes me let it be know that it is all your fault.

ParticipantAt least it will be warm but I am thinking very very wet. I am just sure the rubber on my tires will keep the lightening away. (I know, but it is easier to just convince myself that is true. Only a couple weeks till RAGBRAI, must keep riding, must keep riding.

ParticipantI hear you with the feeling tired. I get that way because my commute is so long (18.5 miles each way). so i do what I can and at least know I am doing much more than most. Plus I do even longer rides on the weekend. I really want to ride everyday but I am so not a morning person. I have to get up at 4:45 to be out the door by 5:15-5:30. i keep telling myself if I rode faster i wouldn’t have to get up so early but that isn’t really going to happen. Someday i will be an everyday commuter both ways. I did give up the car though and my hatred of the bus helps motivate me.
It does help to pack everything the night before and just be ready to have a cup of coffee and then hop on the bike.

ParticipantIt was a nice morning ride this morning. I love love love when the temps get into the high 80’s and 90’s this is my kind of weather. Grin.

ParticipantI have given up on rain gear and just get wet. Everything was just to steamy. Looks like today will be another interesting day. Of course the white shirt might not have been the best choice. Hmmmm wonder what it will be showing when it gets wet. Le sigh
have to ride home need my bike for this weekends rides. Looks like next week will be nothing but storms every evening too.
I am just going to have to learn to like riding in the rain I guess.ejwillis62
ParticipantI am the bike marshall on the 30 mile route, look for my purple helmet with lots of lively decorations on top. You will know when you see it.

ParticipantI had to log in to post this quick rule, “Do not wear bike shorts that are so small for you that everyone you pass gets a view of your butt crack.” I am seeing way way to much of this on the mount vernon trail. Just horrible. Get bigger pants. So far I have only seen men doing this but I am sure with the warmer weather it will even out but please people spare those of us behind you.

ParticipantI hate work but biking in and biking home makes it a little easier to take. I love the quietness of the morning commute on the mount vernon trail. I am the only one out there. In the afternoon not so much but until summer really hits it is almost my own personal trail. And the number one reason I really hate traffic and driving. An added bonus is that at 51 I am in better shape then I have been in a long long time.
